I had some concern after reading the reviews, but this is a great value for the money, and a real gem of a town. The hotel is older, & has a dated look, but the rooms and public areas are all updated, & smartly decorated. Rooms are fine, comfy beds, fridge, coffee makers, and modern bath. Breakfast is fine, staff... more

We were concerned reading some negative reports after booking this hotel. No need !! OK maybe it's more 3 than 4 star but we had a super 10 nights at the hotel, friendly welcome, very clean, plenty good food ( if you want chips or bacon every day stay in the UK), pool area very pleasant with pool bar open... more

Dated 4* hotel with a 2* kitchen and no Chief. Unable to cook more than one type of food, no choise; ie Egg for breakfast, boiled, fried or scrambled but only one with either sausages or bacon. For dinner 1 fish,1 meat and 1choice of Veg + the 1 cold meat and salad. Staff very good and attentive, no air... more

Don't get me wrong, this hotel is good value for the price paid and location. I just felt it had a weird atmosphere. From the moment we walked in to when we left, I just felt depressed and unsettled.....Those of you with a 6th sense let me know what you think!!!! Anyway, I digress. The hotel is fine. VERY helpful... more

I have just returned from a week long stay at the Dom Pedro Baia in Machico. Having read the fairly poor reviews of the hotel before i left, i was worried that i had picked the wrong place to spend my summer holiday. Having returned from a lovely relaxing week in Machico, i want to provide an honest and as... more

We had booked (and paid) for 7 nights in a superior room for two adults and one 12yr old. We managed to stay 1 night but sleep was out of the question as it was so hot, the room had NO ventilation at all. We asked for an alternative but there was no improvement. When we finally 3 empty seats... more

There Was A Food Festival Going On For The Week That We Stayed So It Was Loud Until Late At Night. We Went BB And The... more

We stayed for 12 nights. Machico is normally a quiet resort however annual food festival was on from 31st July to 9th August making evenings noisy until early hours of morning. Earplugs helped with sleeping. Nice small beach with imported sand from Morocco, very clean. Local supermarket and a few shops in Machico however local bus runs frquently to Funchal... more

Club rooms with sea view aren't as good, as it have to be. Equipments are poor, nevertheless TV programs are many;) Food and drinks for AI are quite delicious, however breakfast are poor, but for lunch and dinner - enough. more

Arrived late on a Friday evening all ready for a week's relaxation Reserved this hotel in January and had my confirmation - direct from Dom Pedro hotels with me No trace of my reservation and a very indifferent reaction from Front of House staff. I rather lost my temper and we eneded up in a nearby B&B for half the... more
