One of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. The A/C unit was broken in our room. It took the management 1 and 1/2 days to try to repair the unit. This happened during the one of the hottest times of the summer. When they could not repair the unit, they moved us to another room. We were promised 50%... more

The Tazewell was a lovely hotel in terms of amenities offered and location. After reading the reviews on this website, I was a little cautious, but still thought that I should give it a try. The hotel is located in Norfolk's restaurant district, so we had a number of choices for dining out. The hotel has a martini bar that... more

Based on other tripadvisor reviews, I had realistic expectations about this hotel. It served it's purpose - as it is within walking distance to the Norva where I went to see a show. The hotel is definitely old, but charming. The website indicates that major renovations were done within the past eight years or so. I don't know about all... more

I used to live in Norfolk and always wanted to stay here so on a visit back, did just that. First the positives: It is convenient to all things Grandby Street (downtown bars/restaurants/nightlife) and is a short cab ride to the more laid back Ghent scene. They did a great job maintaining the historic feel; the marble entry and high,... more

I enjoyed my stay at the Tazewell. Yes, the property is slightly older then the rest, however, has lots of charm. The staff was lovely and the rooms, yet small, were city view and cozy. Their line of Bath and Body Works products were a nice surprise and everyone was willing to assist you during your stay. I did not... more

Frequent traveler to Norfolk. Stumbled on the hotel by accident while eating at adjoining restuarant . The gentlemen at the desk sold us on trying the hotel. I was impressed with his excitement and information about the hotel. The Tazwell has charachter, lobby was nice, plenty of history. Rooms seem to have had some remodeling, but lighting was extremely poor... more

I called and made a reservation on June 14th. When I arrived on July 22nd, I was informed they had no reservation for me. There was also no parking on site, the nearest parking a few blocks away, no place to even unload luggage so I had to carry it. While staying at the Tazwell, plaster fell from the ceiling... more

After previous staying at the at the Marriott Waterside ( $249 per Nt ) I found the Tazewell hotel website ( $ 94 per nt) I was a little apprehensive about booking. Nevertheless, I found the Hotel to be just fine. Although the décor is a little dated, the rooms are Large & Clean. The lobby is nice & quiet... more

The Tazewell is an old hotel in downtown Norfolk that was supposedly renovated a few years ago. At the moment there is a condo being built right next to it and the street is closed off. To park your car, you have to take it to a parking garage a couple of blocks away, no valet. The hotel is very... more

my wife and I stayed at the Tazewell for a "getaway weekend" in Norfolk. My recommendation to stay at the Tazewell will definitely depend on your reasons for being in Norfolk. If you are looking for a basic hotel within walking distance to dozens of bars/restaurants, sights, museums, ferry, etc then this is definitely a place to check out as... more
