We were at the Tazewell Hotel for the wedding of my older son at the Wells Theater a block away. The staff were SO supportive of the wedding! Any little thing they could do - from the loan of some scotch tape to moving refrigerators into rooms to hold flowers overnight - ANYTHING - made us feel that we had... more

I have stayed in some horrible hotels in my day, but THIS ONE is the worst. The location was great, the lobby was great....the room was unbelievably HORRIBLE. The carpet was so dirty it was slick, the outlet covers were missing, the hairdryer had been snatched from the wall. I was so so so disappointed. Maybe it was the room... more

This hotel is nicely located on Granby Street within walking distance of many restaurants, theaters, a shopping mall and movie theater, and the water. It is advertised as a boutique hotel but doesn't quite make the grade. I found the rooms and bathrooms to be clean but was disappointed in the breakfast buffet, which is very limited and in a... more

I stayed at the Tazewell the nights of Sunday, 3/1 and Monday 3/2. The hotel has a lot of charm and is more than 100 years old. My room was a spacious junior suite with a view of the water, a comfortable King size bed and Bath and Bodyworks bath amenities, which was a nice touch. The continental breakfast was,... more

We found a syringe in the corner of the bathroom. The staff was quick to apologize -we moved to a new room and did not pay for our one night stay. I was disgusted, and it takes a lot to make me complain. Definitely not somewhere to go if you aren't a junkie. more

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised with the old charm of this historical hotel built around the turn of the last century. The reception staff was extremely polite and helpful. We occupied a junior suite with a spacious, nicely decorated bedroom, sitting area and sparkling clean bathroom, facing Granby Street. There are many restauraunts along and around Granby Street... more

We arrived at the Tazewell at 11 a.m. We stood in line behind a family of four who were told they would be given two smoking rooms. They loudly protested stating that they had reserved non-smoking rooms. The manager then asked them to step aside while he dealt with other customers also stating he would work with them after the... more

One of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. The A/C unit was broken in our room. It took the management 1 and 1/2 days to try to repair the unit. This happened during the one of the hottest times of the summer. When they could not repair the unit, they moved us to another room. We were promised 50%... more

The Tazewell was a lovely hotel in terms of amenities offered and location. After reading the reviews on this website, I was a little cautious, but still thought that I should give it a try. The hotel is located in Norfolk's restaurant district, so we had a number of choices for dining out. The hotel has a martini bar that... more
