Some of the reviews on here make me scratch me head - did you really think you were going to get a flawless hotel in such a great location for $100 a night less than every other downtown hotel? If you want to stay at a GREAT LOCATION for much less $$ than the chain hotels in DT Norfolk, then... More

Spent last weekend at The Tazewell in downtown Norfolk. The location was fantastic, we were able to walk everywhere! However, we will NEVER stay there again. Granted, it's a MUCH older hotel, and, generally speaking, we LIKE older, non- chain accommodations. We love the architecture, the fixtures, the craftsmanship. What we DID NOT live at The Tazewell: Our room was... More

I read all of the reviews. I usually take them with a grain of salt as some people are very particular about things, more so than myself. I have stayed in several old hotels in New Orleans and personally I prefer the "quirky" establishment as compared to the sterile chain hotels. That being said, I truly tried to like this... More

I picked this hotel because of the ratings by AAA and Groupon, the location, and the price. I was really disappointed. There was no air conditioning in the hallway. The room had two different spots of nail polish that had been spilled and not removed. There was a spot on the bed sheet. The carpets in the hallway and room... More

Very disappointed with this hotel. Should've known when I stepped off of the elevator onto the 7th floor. The hallway was stifling hot! Walked into the room and it had an unpleasant odor, we had to spray air freshener and it was still stuff and smelly. Carpet was dirty and stained and had not been vacuumed( dorito crumbs, tags removed... More

Booked this hotel through Hotwire as it was rated 3 star. I have NEVER had an issue with getting nice hotels from Hotwire. First we parked across the street paying the meter. My mother whom is disabled had to climb steps to get in as the stair lift on the steps didn't work. Parking sounded like a chore to remember... More

My husband and I stayed Valentine's evening. We had planned on dinner, a concert at the Norva and a good night's rest. When we entered the room, it was very cold (58 degrees). I turned on the heat which made a noise so loud we had a hard time hearing each other. It began to quiet as we left the... More

We were looking forward to spending time in this area but it was cut short due to the type of room we had. First, it took two of us to open the door and during the night you could tell that it wasn't incorrectly because of the light that had shown though. Secondly, the room was really worn, with stains... This place was cheap, but I'm not sure it was worth it. It has very thin walls. Somebody was having a loud party down the hall past midnight. Tried calling the front desk. At first the phone wouldn't connect, then the line was busy. Tried turning on the AC unit to drown out the noise, but it made a rattling... More

The Tazewell is an older hotel in downtown Norfolk. It is very convenient to the Norfolk campus of the Tidewater Community College and the city library. It is also convenient to the Norfolk Courthouse. The elevator is definitely old, but works well. The worse part was the parking. They have a garage beside the hotel which will cost you $15... More
