I booked a room with balcony in this hotel in January 2012. The room was incredibly spacious, clean and smartly decorated. The village of Ponta do Sol is a delight. I would not hesitate to stay there again. More

Ponta do Sol is a tiny sea-hugging village backed by sheer cliffs, so you feel snug and excluded from the rest of the world. Views are lovely - beach is pebbly but inviting. Sunsets spectacular. Its also surrounded by banana plantations. This island is awash with flowers, luscious fruits and is a total garden of eden. Botanist friends of mine... More

Just returned from another great stay. The hotel is immaculate, we were on the All inclusive Special which was great for our belly's and pockets. The food, staff, room and hotel overall was excellent. We will definetly be returning. Yes the beach is rocky but you have toremeber madeira is a volcanic island. If you want a golden sandy beach... Granted we had just come from a lovely hotel in funchal but the enotel in ponta do sol lacks personality & facilities. We had based our booking on a few features - proximity to the beach & promises of WiFi. The beach is right across the road & despite it being rocky there are wooden platforms for you to lie... More

We stayed here for 2 nights, and had 2 great diners in the restaurant across the street (grilled seafood and beef) with a great sunset. unfortunately they are working on the tunnels, so you do hear some work between 8 and 5pm but then we were of exploring the island by car. The sea is not very inviting for a... More

This hotel is in a beautiful location but suffers from being in a low cost group. The rooms are large and most have a full sea view. The main draw backs are lack of transport so you definitely need a car, the beach is poor and rocky and equipmentvin the gym is old and doesn't work and the pool is... More

We stayed here for 6 nights; the first 2 we had the local Festa right outside the hotel.....LOUD music til 4am and 5.30am...thankfully only 2 nights. Hotel needs a facelift, it's very drab. The staff were complaining of overwork (in portuguese) and many guests helped them out in the restaurant and bar! Not a conducive atmosphere for a drink in... More

This hotel is really isolated but has stunning seaviews. We went on an "All inclusive" package, the first night I asked for a glass of Rose with dinner but was told I could only have red or white wine in the all inclusive!!! Not impressed. The website showed a sun terrace with table & chairs outside to enjoy a drink-no... More

We booked a half price deal at this hotel and then read some of the reviews. We headed out with trepidation. First night we were given rooms at the back of the hotel, roomy but no sea view as promised. We were assured we would be moved next day, we were, to lovely rooms with balcony and view of the... More

Today just came back from Ponta da Sol. Wonderful week on Madeira. Our mistake was not to rent a car from the total beginning, as hotel is quite far from airport and cab is for the same price as daily car rental. Hotel is nice, old, but clean. I would rate it as good 3* hotel. It is really right... More
