On reading the earlier reviews we were a little concerned about the comments on food and shared balconies and pool cleanliness. The Thomson rep. told us there had been a couple of complaints which were taken very seriously by the hotel and a new chef started this year. We could not see any problem with the balconies as the top... more

My wife and I stayed at the Villa Durrueli for two weeks in July. I will bullet point the comments 1. The reception staff are very helpful and do speak english enough to understand you. They were always very polite and nothing was too much trouble. 2. The hotel is situated off the main road so it is very tranquil... more

Great Hotel-An excellent location for everything and in a quiet neighbourhood. Having read poor reviews on food we were very pleased to find that the restaurant was excellent and that the hotel had recently changed its chef who provided a wonderful array of choices and quality of local produce. All staff very friendly and rooms spotless. We will be returning... more

Surprised by some of the negative views; our experience was very good, Charming and efficient staff, extremely clean, nice pool. Didn't try the restaurant at night but everything else seemed tip top. Terrific location - easy walking to both Ischia Port and Ischia Ponte. more

Unfortunately we went to Ischia in early November which meant that most of the very good places had shut down for the season. The weather was still very good though. The Durrueli hotel staff was very pleasant but our room was just ok. Overlooking the entrance driveway. We were not given a room with ocean view although the hotel was... more

After reading the reviews on this site, I was looking forward to some pampering at the Villa Durrueli. I couldn't have been more misguided. Our experience started badly and never changed. At check-in, we were ignored by the female receptionist for at least 10 minutes, who appeared to be chatting on the telephone with a friend. When she finally lead... more

We booked here for a week of sun, not knowing too much about the island of Ischia, but the wealth of positive reviews for the hotel made us very confident. We were not disappointed...Though the room was fairly basic it was clean, comfortable and cool. Pool area was beautifully kept and a great place to relax, while the food for... more

We have just returned back from a stay on Ischia at the Hotel Durrueli and cannot speak too highly of the hotel and the very friendly staff. I have travelled extensively in Italy over the years and remember the abject poverty of the region in the early 1960s when the children were literally running bare foot begging in the streets... more

After comparing the reviews with the hotel I stayed in I wonder if it was actually the same place. Our ‘superior’ room was dated, worthy of around a 2 star rating and reminiscent of an unrefurbished Holiday Inn. The entrance, reception area and pool were OK but not what I would expect for a 4 star hotel. The robe in... more

Can't speak highly enough of the place Ischia and the staff that run the hotel. All the staff especially front desk were so welcoming and bent backwards for you. The facilities were fabulous. The only downfall was that the room was rather small and our room was not cleaned very well. On the top floor there is a solarium with... more
