It was cool the fact I was staying in a castle. I stayed in a private room in the bottom of the castle with my friend where there was no wifi which I had to pay for! It took me forever to get my wifi, I asked for it then she told me to wait and carried on doing nothing... More

The castle has been converted to a family hostel and is very comfortable and clean. They offer a buffet for breakfast and dinner, as well as ordering a la carte. They have wi-fi, but it's not secure, so beware. Typical amenites of a hostel include a game room, lounge area, etc., etc. Spending a night in an ancient castle can... More

We recently traveled with my husband's family around Europe for 2 weeks--everyone agrees, this was the highlight of our trip! Book well in advance, as rooms run out quickly! For around 25 EUR per person, you can sleep in a Rhine-river castle (which has been turned into a family hostel). The price includes dinner and breakfast which is pretty bland,... More

The staff at this castle/hotel are incredibly rude. I stood at the reception desk for 10 minutes directly in front of the only staff member sitting behind the desk. She was playing on her phone, and was intentionally ignoring me. I said excuse me and hello (in German and English) and was completely ignored. It wasn't until a young girl... More

Our Girl Scout Troop just got back from a 16 European tour and we loved our stay in Burg Stahleck. We had awesome group rooms and adult rooms. They were clean, spacious and comfy - especially after the walk up the hill. I recommend the easier path with stairs, if you choose to walk up, but the more challenging path... More

This is the most unique experience in terms of our accommodations in Germany. Some people might think it's a hostel where you see kids running everywhere. That's not the case during our visit (a long weekend in May). The hostel is clean, quiet. The room is also clean; linens are clean and quite new. We stayed in the two private... More

For a night, this wasn't bad. The bathrooms were down the hall, and the room was very small. The location was outstanding, just be careful how much stuff you have to lug up 350 steps....it's a workout! It was quiet at night, but crazy with kids during the day.

An experience to remember! Fairytale hotel in Germany. Very basic and clean room, but you don't stay there much. Views of Rhine river are spectacular. You're staying in a castle!! Breakfast was good. Lovely town. Will return again someday.

I stayed here during a 16 day tour through Europe. We did not stay in many hotels and I came to love hostels in a sense. This one, specifically, was the most memorable. Once you step foot into the gates, you can't help but be impressed by the grounds and hostel itself. The stone steps and pathways make you feel... More

This was a rather unusual stay for us. A youth hostel in a castle. How cool is that? So not only is the stay dirt cheap it also has extremely panoramic views of the Rhine looking out over battlements and turrets. The only problem was it was overrun by children. I am not sure if this was a one off... More
