Domaine de Capelongue, located in beautiful and historic Bonnieux (Provance) could not have a nicer setting, could not have nicer grounds but it could have better food and service. The internet was almost non-existent (although on vacation why am I worried about the internet??). By the way the hotel looks on the outside and the inside I was really expecting... More

We have been here before, and the place has improved tremendously. The property is and was spectacular, with sublime views of the valleys near Bonnieux. Lots of lavender, linen and a two-star Michelin rating that they have managed to keep for several years. The food is lighter than I remember it (that is a good thing) and the classics (a truffle... If only we could stay for 2 more days…. The whole place was just enchanting. Early morning walks in the lavender fields and gardens, hearing the bees buzzing, gazing out into the whole estate was just totally relaxing… matched with the unobtrusive yet very charming and efficient staff, the attention to detail in their rooms, even the location of their... It is definitely worth making the time to arrange a visit to this magnificent venue and to experience an afternoon with Edouard Loubert's mastery of food and wine as you will not be disappointed stay in the village of Lourmarin overnight at least, to take in some of Frances best rural experiences.

After a hectic year we decided we needed a break and what better place to go then relatively nearby South of France. Usually we tent out with the bikes or the 2cv and the dog at the lovely campsite Le Vallon but with the winter cold we decided that we needed to book something solid with walls. La Capelongue was... we stayed at the Domaine de Capelongue last night already the drive from Avignon trough Bonnieux was worth the trip ! The property is stunning on a hillside overlooking the Luberon. Our room in the Main building *Dame Barde" was very nicely decorated in grey and white "Modern Provençal" on two floors overlooking the lavender.Unfortunately the owner was not there... More

Great position and common parts but rooms small , under maintained and not commensurate with price. There appears to be a well recognised hot water problem which is ,for whatever reason -financial? - not being addressed . This led to an unsatisfactory experience and early departure !

We had saved the Luberon for a special indulgence. Sometimes driving 200 km, is worth the wait. A sign along the road selling truffles awakens an excitement. The eatery has a small dining room with lovely views and very casually dressed but sophisticated crowd. You know the style dressing, without showing off. We were served a plate of veggies out of... Yes, excellent staff and service but the room was so small and basic - and the food! Endless (7) amuse bouche before the first course arrived and what disappointment! a smear of carrot puree and two frazzled carrots hardly warranted a four line description on the menu. The rest of the meal was much the same, ending with a "pre-dessert"... More

Some points below why, despite the excellent service of the staff, it's just a 3 star rating. 1. We were accommodated in the apartment area at the other side of the road. Nice room in a "country, farmhouse" style, comfortable bed, etc. 2. BUT. The bathroom. Why do people have the urge to waaaaay overplay a style just to become... More
