La bastide de capelongue Shock and awe The awe is for the cooking. La Bastide is a restaurant with rooms. Food is the most important thing here. The owner Edouard Loubet is perhaps one of the best young chefs in Europe. He already has held two Michelin stars for some years and must now be well on the way to... more

We booked a short break at the Bastide through their own website - opting for the 'picnic package' - which included two nights accommodation in a standard room, breakfast and a picnic hamper on the day of our choice for less than £320.00. Now we're back, I can say this was great value. The hotel is approx. an hour from... more

Please, please do yourself a very big favour and don't go anywhere near this place.I booked a 3 day stay directly with the hotel for 26th-29th May.On the confirmation form it clearly states that a cancellation within 7 days of arrival will result in full refund of the 390 Euro deposit. My wife was 22 weeks pregnant at the time and almost... more

We have just stayed at this hotel (3 nights) and found the food, service and hotel to be very nice. We thought the staff very helpful, in the restaurant and also in the hotel. The only criticism we had was the bathroom maybe needed updating and was a bit dark. Would go back again. more

We had dinner at the 2 star Michelin restaurant at the Bastide de Capelongue last night, and it was really a disappointment. Upon arrival at the restaurant, we were led through the hotel lobby into the noisy dining hall, where a kid was wailing throughout the dinner service. The manager showed us our table (number 4) and then invited us... more

Recently stayed at LaBastide for three nights. I thought the service was excellent and the food superb. I know this is what is to be expected from Loubert, so I am glad it lived up to our expectations. Selection of wines great; breakfast the best...don't miss...chocolate cereal; cheeses, brulees, sauces on everything tantalizing, salads that I dream about. Being the... more

In summer 2004, we went to La Batiste for the first time and it was fantastic: nice setting, nice food, discret staff. In summer 2005, we decided to go back for one night only. We booked the Junior Suite at the second floor under the roof. This was confirmed by the hotel. When we arrived, the Hotel Management informed us... more

Our stay at La Bastide de Capelongue was wonderful. The hotel is beautiful, the staff accomodating and the food wonderful. This was a memorable trip and well worth the cost. more

I can endorse the latest review regarding the pretentiousness of this hotel. In the dining room, the staff of both sexes flounce about to no great effect. We chose an expensive bottle (130 Euros) wine which the sommeliere (feminine) brought to our table, swinging it about with one hand, then removed the cork, poured and placed in a cradle. Then... more

It is incredibly tricky to find the Bastide as the directions were very misleading. You can find yourself doing an Italian Job impression as you battle your way through the picturesque Vaucluse town of Bonnieux, up and down winding streets to reach the hotel. Once there, however, it is well worth the trip for the view alone. A stunning vista... more
