In a small street within Saint Martin Village, la Maison Douce is closer to a Bed&Breakfast than a hotel. The decoration is nice and typically french, all in taupe, black, grey and white with painted old furniture, the inner garden / terrace is absolutely charming, the bed is good and the bathroom nicely decorated. Yet, the room can be a... More

We spent 4 nights at La Maison Douce in August with our 2 children (4 & 2 years old). It was really great. We had the suite les Bois Flottés which was nice, big enough & cosy for both my husband & I & the 2 children ( curtains for the childrens bed which gives a feeling of intimacy). Breakfasts... More

We Where a bit disappointed with our 3 day stay. I had reserved a club room, and we got a dark room, with no window, and had to keep, the door open at night to keep it cool. Bathroom was large and pretty comfy, bed was good. We spent most of our time in the garden (which could use a good... More

Note sure we have ever been to a place we hated so much. We disliked nearly everything. From the moment we arrived when we were told we did not have car parking reserved (even though we had confirmation) and that if we did want secure parking it was 30 euro a night we were on a downward spiral. (At checkout... More

A beautiful place to stay but choose your room carefully as they are a little small. Real French charm and beautifully decorated with typical Ile de Re decor. The fig home fragance that enhances the hotel can be bought and is well worth taking home to remind you of the place.....a lovely relaxing feel. Breakfast is home made and is... More

This hotel is a bit Marmite - you love it or don't get it. We love it (this was our second stay): beautiful, imaginative decor, and very tranquil. Breakfast great - but no other meals served here. Great location too. Bit pricey, but you're staying in the heart of Ile de Re for goodness sake, so what do you expect!... More

We had a lovely one nights stay in the garden room just by the courtyard. We were met warmly by the owner Alain and felt very at home! We had a gorgeous breakfast in the garden preceded by a long and very deep bath in our bedroom! I cannot complain. I have noted other guests got too hot we opened... More

We stopped over in Ile de Re on the way from Paris to Biarritz, and we loved Maison Douce. It's tucked away, and nice and quiet and we had a brilliant night's sleep followed by an amazing breakfast of pastries, ham, cheese, bread and yoghurt. The bed was comfortable and the place was charming and beautiful. If you're looking for... More

Positives: We quite liked the shabby chic style of this hotel and the bed comfort was good. We liked the hotel's garden as well as the hot tub area which we could book to use free of charge as well as the friendliness of the female owner/staff member? Negatives:We strongly felt that the value for money here was poor, although... More
