We loved this hotel - and will certainly come back. We arrived after 9.30pm due to a late flight - we were given a warm welcome - we were given a tour of the hotel by a charming receptionist who arranged for us to have platters of cheese & charcuterie, salad and bread with a bottle of wine in our... Beautiful location, extremely friendly family run hotel, very helpful! We had a wonderful long weekend on Ile d'Oleron staying at Hotel Le Grand Large. The reception desk was attentive to our every need from WIFI connection to bike rentals to excellent restaurant recommendations. The beachfront location with easy beach access is unbeatable and the views magnificent. A lovely place.

We had just spent three weeks on a road trip around Europe staying at hotels under 120 euros a night and our previous stay was at a luxury hotel in San Sabastian with everything (including beach, night life etc, all for 120 euros) and we wanted our penultimate night to be special, so we paid 230 euros to stay at... We were only here for an overnight stop, which was a pity as it is not enough. Two or three nights would be better to enjoy this marvelous place. The hotel is tucked behind the dunes and the beach so its totally quiet. There is a private access to the beach. If you are not a beach goer then you... More

This is a wonderfully simple and beautiful hotel. Modern with its architecture, decoration, paintings, sculptures and music but quiet and simple in the way it is run. It sits right on the beach facing west, where the next stop is Long Island in the USA. This hotel reminds me of the Long Island scenery and summer ambience The rooms are... More

A vert nice hotel that has both the advantages of being in the middle of no where but it close to all you need to see and do. It is in front of the ocean on a beautiful deserted beach where you can walk for hours. The staff is wonderful, very warm and friendly . The restaurant faces the ocean... More

Found this hotel by chance (driving by) Not many rooms about 28 I believe. Chef has 2 stars we were told. Hotel not suitable for children. Hotel is set on its own in sandy dunes and small walk to fab beach. As not much development very little people on beach. just bliss Location fantastic. No outdoor swimmingpool but small indoor... A masterpiece of architecture, this hotel has private access to the beach, where you can just walk, swim in the Ocean or practice Windsurfing. The hotel also has a free parking which is never completely full. Rooms are smaller than usual but Creatively designed. Access to indoor swimming pool and gym is easy from the rooms. One of the best... More

Recently stayed here for 4 nights in a clean, modern garden room with good facilities. Shower is of a new, open type so no door which means that the bathroom area can get quite wet (depending on how you shower!). Bed was comfy with crisp white linen and a good night's sleep was had. Wall mounted TV seemed to have... More

Had a fabulous time, Highly recommended, the staff including the management were so friendly, we dined in the restaurant overlooking the ocean and had an excellent meal, I know some previous comments state it is expensive but I thought it was worth paying extra for the Location along with first class service we received.
