This is a really nice, family run hotel. It is not exactly luxurious and the bathrooms are a bit tired but the beds are comfortable, the rooms are warm and the breakfast is all you could wish for before an energetic day of cycling, hiking or ski touring. The owners are friendly and helpful and go out of their way... More

Really friendly place - food really good. Lack of decent teabags really needs sorting - no need for rhubarb tea bags ... Just get some normal tea. The noisy doors in the morning get on your wick - but only if you were planning on a long lie in. It needs a spruce - it looks like an 80s theme... More

We were travelling through France on a motorbike in June. We wanted a town to base ourselves for a couple of days. We had no idea what the town would be like or the hotel but what a fantastic choice! Ok so the decor is a little outdated ( I've read some of the other posts) but the staff are... More

Maybe it was a nice hotel before but obviously the owners opted not to put any money to improve or renovate. Carpet is stained and smelly, furniture is outdated and depressing, decoration is...non-existing. Average and basic with no charm. Dining room has a senior retirement home atmosphere. Wi-fi didn't work in our room, we had to go in the lobby... More

Our cycling group stayed here for 2 nights and we opted for the demi pension ( dinner and breakfast included). The cycling in the area is the big draw ( as well as the hiking and skiing in the winter). The rooms are basic and reasonably clean. Rooms on the higher floors offer better views. The food was average to... More

Average medium sized hotel in a busy and attractive town, where the wealth of outdoor activities - hiking, walking, cycling, ski-ing in winter, etc probably accounts for reasonable occupancy. Room clean and quiet but basic. Food competent though not helped by one waiter who could readily audition for Fawlty Towers. No particular charm or character. If you visit this charming... More

We stopped in and got a room without a reservation and were delighted by the result! Booking a 3rd floor room with balcony, we found the Hotel le Montaigu to be a modern accommodation with many positive attributes. Comfortable.... we slept soundly and were able to spread out a little bit in the room. Friendly.... the staff couldn't have been... More

Very clean hotel, good restaurant and the food is excellent. The new extension at the front of the hotel provide balconies. good parking and close to all the local amenities. No swimming pool but free bus to spa in the town.

Nice family-owned hotel in beautiful mountain setttings. The room was simple but comfortable. Unfortunately, rooms in the back have no balcony and no view (we had booked at the last minute and the hotel was full, so no choice of room). The weather was cool this August and the lack of air conditioning not a problem. We slept very well.... More

We loved our weeklong stay at Hotel Le Montaigu. Our room was quiet, clean, very comfortable, and had an unmatched view of the village, river and mountains beyond. We slept with the doors to the balcony open and woke to birds singing and church bells each morning. The hotel staff includes several family members who work tirelessly from early in... More
