Upon arrival, it was a little hard to find but once you find, be sure to knock hard. You will be greeted by the proprietor, Nicole. She is warm and extremely friendly. Speaks English well. The rooms are well appointed and spacious with all the four star amenities. Ask to borrow the bicycles. It is a wonderful way to seethe... More

We spent a long weekend at La Chancelière to discover the area in November. The owners were kind, welcomed us and we enjoyed their company and hearty breakfasts by the fireplace in our own reception room. Our bedroom (painted blue, at the end of a long corridor to the right) was spacious, well-designed and comfortable with a large bathroom and... More

Here, the details charm and surprise: the stack of Tintin for my son to read, the wifi for my daughter to do her homework, a crackling fire at breakfast, itself a lavish spread. Immaculately clean room and bathroom, and very comfortable room temperature for such an old manor. Made for a lovely place to stop while visiting chateaux, and stocking... More

Two nights in Sancerre with Jacques and Nicole were not enough! A perfect place to stay when exploring the Loire Valley. The history, ambiance and hospitality are delightful, creating the perfect choice for our lodging. Breakfasts were wonderful, our hosts were so friendly and accommodating, the grounds are so lovely, the rooms clean, warm and charming….a great experience.

We stayed 1 night at La Chanceliere on our way driving from Marseille to Paris and were really pleased with the beautiful and charming property as well as the excellent service offered by the sweet Nicole and Jacques. The entrance is a bit deceiving but once you are inside the property it really is something special. The terrace overlooking the... More

We had a lovely not-long-enough stay in Sancerre with Jacques snd Nicole! Our rooms were very nice, clean and confortable, breakfast was just terrific and they bent over backwards to help us through a travel snag in our plans! Can't say enough nice things! Looking forward to another nice stay someday!

We stayed 5 nights and found that all the positive reports were right. The wonderful old house is full of character and the welcome offered by Nicole and Jacques was superb. Our room was out of this world and the Breakfasts were the best. Sadly the restaurant Le Laurient nearby which we had planned to visit a few times was... More

We had a wonderful two night stay with Jacques and Nicole on the 17th and 18th of september. They were charming hosts, offering information and maps on places to visit and directions. Their home and the gardens are beautiful and all looked after with care. Amenities and a bowl of chocolates in the room, and beautiful linen and very comfortable... More

We had two nights at La Chanceliere at it was the highlight our our trip to France. Nicole and Jacques are exceptional hosts in their magnificent treasure of a home in Saint Satur. The rooms and gardens make this a special place which reflects its history of another time. But it sits so comfortably in the 21st century due to... More

The Internet means that places that used to have to announce themselves on the street to attract customers can now be discreet. La ChanceLiere is in a quiet back street in St. Satur with just its name on a gate, its XVIII Century street facade not revealing the glories within. Despite its age, there is a tiny lift accessed via... More
