Before the days of affordable flights from regional airports, we often visited Normandy and had been to St Vaast several times before, though never stayed over. After a gap of ?12 years we decided it was time to revisit some old haunts. We booked with Brittany Ferries and were pleased to see La Granitiere as a hotel option as we... More

We booked this as a one night stay to be close to the ferry at Cherbourg. Arriving at 3.30pm the owner showed us to our room which was a very clean and well served twin in earshot of the beautiful church and it's hourly chime. Close to the small town and the beautiful harbour with a lovely little veranda to... More

Quite a nice hotel, very good position walking stance to the town centre. Breakfast was sufficient, a small bar area and pleasant breakfast room. The rooms were a bit dated but in keeping with the hotel and it was all kept very clean, I do think they could improve the shampoo/body wash which currently is provided in small little sachets.... We were having a couple of days in France, so St Vaast was perfectly situated, half an hour from Cherbourg. Hotel La Granitiere is a delight. We received a real welcome. We stayed in room104 which was large and had plenty of storage space, the bed was King sized and very comfy. The shower room was dated but everything functioned... More

We have stayed here a couple of times whilst on business in France. Nice friendly, "typical" French hotel, in the process of a handover to a lovely lady called Isabelle who is really excited about her new venture and has some interesting ideas for the future. She speaks good English and is knowledgeable about local attractions. Wi-Fi is good, breakfast... More

Lovely old building. Fixtures and fittings relevant to the age of the building. Free on site car parking. Very warm welcome , given relevant information on restaurants and the immediate area. The port area is a mere 5 minutes walk from the hotel . Breakfast was extra and adequate for the cost. Saint Vaast is a wonderful port with great... More

It's years, even decades, since I've stayed in a hotel like this - typically French, independent, small - but it was an absolute delight. La Granitiere has just nine rooms and all appear to be individually, decorated and the whole place has a really nice, welcoming and homely feel to it. I had room 101 (described as a superior double)... More

Stayed here recently for a few nights and would concur with previous reviews that this is a charming hotel run by a charming couple. It is however very dated and in need of updating, the bathroom in room 102 especially. The whole establishment is kept exceptionally clean. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone. Tried a few of the restaurants... More

Very comfortable and clean hotel in a good location. The room (102) was a good size and with a balcony overlooking the front of the hotel it is south facing so gets the sun. We arrived late (00:30) due to much messing about with Ferries because of industrial action and technical issues. We were given a code to get into... More

You can not fault the hotel on location, price or friendliness of the owner. His recommendation of restaurant was brilliant. The room we had was spacious and with the balcony. (102) The bed did squeak rather a lot just getting in and out of it, but slept well. The bathroom was from the 1970's and looked tired. But all worked... More
