My fear of b&b was lack of privacy, small rooms, shared bathrooms, feeling like an intruder in someone's home. Our stay at Rosendale Inn proved me wrong on all my preconceptions. Paul is an excellent host: soft spoken and unassuming, never intrusive yet full of information on a variety of subjects and willing to share if asked, readily available if... More

If you appreciate quaint and rustic inns this is the place for you. Gorgeous views with easy access to New Market, caverns, and wineries. Paul is the perfect host serving up a terrific breakfast and fascinating tales of his life experiences. The library is a wonderful place to relax with new friends and the museum room will entertain any serious... More

I really hesitated writing this review because this B&B is someone's livelihood. However, I rely on tripadvisor and appreciate honest reviews. First, the positive, the setting is stunning, out in the country very quiet and peaceful Secondly, the house is beautiful and very historic. Third, the rooms are large and beds are very comfortable. Fourth, the owner is very honest.... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Rosendale Inn. The house itself is quite interesting with a number of antiques & curios to examine. The library room is well stocked with both classic and modern literature. Paul was very nice and told us many amusing anecdotes over our delicious breakfasts. The James Madison suite is quite lovely with big rooms... More

My two children and I enjoyed our weekend at Rosendale Inn in November 2013. We chose Rosendale Inn because it offered a respite from the busyness of Washington, D.C. and it is located near several caverns. The James Madison Suite is decorated with period antiques and offers lovely views of the countryside Both beds were extremely comfortable and we slept soundly!... Rosendale Inn was a great time. We stayed for two nights in February. Although there was snow, the premises was cleared along with the driveway. It had great views and was very quaint. The host (Paul) was very personable and very nice. He whipped up a breakfast both mornings and was very accommodating to our needs. He has the house... More

Rosendale, four miles south of New Market, Va., is an historic home in a peaceful, pastoral setting. Its original portion dates to the end of the 18th century and has additions which were added in 1870 and 1925. It is situated in a beautiful, agricultural area of gently rollings hills covered by green pastures, fields and forests. We spent seven,... More

There was enough snow to be scenic, and the Salyard cottage was snug and secure. Having a working fireplace in our bedroom was just lovely. We spent the day wandering antiques malls and the town of Staunton, saw a play at the Blackfriars and listened to some awfully good bluegrass music at the guitar-and-music-store on the main street. Our host... More

Unfortunately, it was very cold when we arrived for three days and Thanksgiving with friends who live nearby. We chose the Salyard Cottage because we are in our 70's, have both had knee replacements, and prefer not to tackle stairs (where all the bedrooms were located). Had we known that the cottage did not have adequate access, we would not... More

To all my Guests, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for an absolutely wonderful 2013. Rosendale Inn made history last year. We celebrated six anniversaries, four weddings, and two engagements in the Joseph Salyard Cottage. The year 2013 also marked the 10 year anniversary for one returning couple, six for another, and four for... More

The Inn is a work in progress, but don't let that fool you. All of the guest rooms are clean well kept and well appointed, and (in some cases very large). The surroundings are quiet and tranquil, and in the morning mist, quite beautiful. Paul, the innkeeper is very friendly and a great host and cook. I would definately recommend... More
