Appalling welcome from who I assume was the Manageress on arrival. Overpriced Restaurant. Small selection of drinks at the Bar. Room small and smelt of damp. Hotel l'Esplanade is located in a charming town on a hill looking over a beautiful valley. We stayed in a lovely, but small, room overlooking the valley and the winding river below. My wife and I stayed in room 08 on the second floor. The views over the Dordogne were magnificent. Waking up and looking out above the clouds was an experience we shall treasure for always, especially seeing hot-air balloons above the clouds below us. Wow! Our room had furnishings that were about 30yrs old (certainly the bathroom!) and small but the location and the view of the hotel make you put up with it. Restaurant was lovely and service was also superb. more
