The first time we stayed at this charming small family-run hotel (located on a hill overlooking the small, lovely resort town of La Roche) was in 1985, and we were excited to return again. We were cordially welcomed by the manager Michel Defays, who also presented a magnificent and huge included breakfast the next morning in the lovely dining room (delicious breads/croissants/rolls/pastries and jams, yogurt, eggs, meat, various cheeses, cereal, juice, outstanding coffee and hot chocolate), with nice china and silverware. Afterwards, we enjoyed looking at the historic photos and books in the salon/lounge, as well as artwork throughout the hotel. The large, clean guest room (full of character) had ensuite bathroom with bathtub/shower combination, and a separate toilet room. The view out our window was fantastic, with a view of the town, river, church and castle on the opposite hill, which was lit up at night.
