The Pyerkerhof is located on a hillside across the highway from Bad Hofgastein. Very nice setting, but not as isolated as their advertising would make it seem. We stayed in Spring so can't evaluate the property as a base for winter sports, which seems to be part of its focus. The property has excellent views, but unfortunately the views from many (probably most) of the rooms are over the tops of roofs of the hotel itself, which detracts quite a bit. Staff was very courteous but not always helpful. Examples: One person hurriedly gave us incorrect starting directions for a hike which led to a much longer, more complcated outing than we had in mind; they sell postcards but don't have stamps in denominations that will work with them (although they have other denominations). And the entire place is getting shopworn: it needs some refurbishing and brightening up - at least, if it is to be consistent with its advertising.
