We chose this hotel as it is off the beaten track away from the crowds visiting the famous Ludwig castles and fancied somewhere quiet. Hotel is located in an area of outstanding beauty, situated in flat countryside with a backdrop view of mountains. Staff are very friendly and upon arrival gave us loads of information and discounts to here there... More

The Gusthof is located in the fooothills of the Tirolian/Bavarian Alps. It is in the tiny town of Pinswang about halfway between Reutte, Austria and Fussen, Germany. They have a great restaurant and bier Garten. They also work with a local group to provide outdoor activities. We missed the night hike to Neuschanstein by a day. We did make the... More

What a charming little hotel! We took a taxi from Fussen to the hotel, it cost about 18 euro each direction. This hotel is on a farm, you can watch the cattle being walked down the road each day, and horses grazing with the hills and tiny town in the background. There is a long hike you can take over... This was not my first stay at Gutshof zum Schluxen. We learned about this country hotel through on of Rick Steves' guidebooks. We actually met him there about 12 years ago coincidentally. While the hotel's location is a bit remote, it actually is quite convenient to Neuschwanstein and Linderhof, Zugspite, Reutte, Fussen, etc. When we arrived at the hotel on... More

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at this guesthouse. Our room was very comfortable, and perfect for our family of 3 - 2 adults and a teenage son. The employees were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and service was great. We selected this location due to it's proximity to Neuschwanstein castle. They have bikes to... More

We stayed here for 2 nights. Layla greeted us upon our arrival and was especially helpful in getting us oriented to the area. We used this as a home base to go to the Zugspitze and Neuschwanstein. If we had had more time here, we definitely would have taken more advantage of all the walks and hikes available. If you... More

We were astounded by the customer service we received here. The staff went to enormous lengths to help us out: they gave us directions for the best local hikes, chilled beer and wines that we had bought elsewhere, provided ice packs for my Mom's swollen knee, and when we accidentally left a packet containing our itinerary and passports they immediately... Stayed for 2 nights & were happy with the clean pleasant rooms. Enjoyed their free breakfasts & a dinner there. Food was good & so was service. The location with the nearby Alps is picture perfect. The staff went out of their way to be helpful.

Rooms: very nice, agreeable rooms. Area is very quiet, no traffic, no plane noise, horses around. Kitchen: we ate 7 dinners with 5-7 corses, good selection of solid Austro-German dishes. Good variety apart for the 2 buffets, but still good. Personell: reserved, quiet people. Watch out: the owners have bought a new hotel in Reutte, future quality has to be... More

Although the rooms are quite simple, there is no need to spend much time in it when there is so much to do! We chose this hotel as we were traveling during the height of the tourist season, and didn't want to deal with the crowds of Fussen or Schwangau, but still wanted to visit Neuschwanstein and the touristy areas....
