Our stay here was one of my favorite nights in Nicaragua. It has an intimate feel, great views on the mountain, and the staff is so friendly you'll become best friends with them by morning. You can camp, sleep in dorms, or in hammocks. My boyfriend and I chose to put up a hammock on one of the camping platforms.... More

The treehouse is a must visit for every fun loving backpacker. We stayed two nights. Granted, there is some hiking involved as the dorms are down a ways from the main hangout spot, but who couldn't use some more walking?! The dorms are great, with lockers to keep your things in, security at night, and a locking door also. There... More

If you are looking to get away from civilisation for a two days or more, then go to this place. Nestled up a hill amidst huge trees, this treehouse is a crazy gathering of travellers from around the world, with every night being either a wild party or a chilled night in front of the movie projector, but always after... I have very mixed feelings about the place. The manager at the time was just amazing person and the volunteers were also really nice. But. One of them stole my laptop from the hostel "safety". It was behind the locks and only the staff knew the code for the lock. I had in the safety my laptop in a bag... More

First let me thank you for giving us this glowing 1 dot rating. I really love trip advisor and all the people, like yourself who take the time to bash us for things that are out of our control. Like all businesses, we have no way of knowing who might be a bad apple. Lie detector test and FBI screenings... More

My stay at Poste Rojo was straight out of a dream, and I certainly count it in the top 3 most amazing places I've ever stayed. It's sort of like never-never land, a wonderful place to forget about the world for a few days. The volunteer staff and rotating cast of characters built a wonderful sense of community that made... I enjoyed my time at Poste Rojo, but it is definitely not a place for everyone. We took a "shuttle" from a hostel in Granada into the jungle. By "shuttle", I mean one person driving FAR too many people for safety in a small van. Everyone was crammed in with stuff and absolutely no space to breathe. You get to... More

1st I would like to say, this is a very rustic place on the side of a mountain, with everything but the dorm open air. And as long as you are aware & comfortable with that you should have an awesome time. I went to get away from "the big city" for a couple of days & mission accomplished. The... More

I absolutely loved the treehouse. First of all...its a treehouse!!! It's peaceful and relaxing with the most beautiful sunsets. You can watch the monkeys, do yoga, or just relax with a book in a hammock. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The family dinners are delicious and affordable...well worth the money! Depending on who's there it can be a chill... More

Yeah! Finally Trip Advisor allowed a great review to be published! This proves that this site is not deleting all of our excellent reviews. Only most of them. We are happy that some people spread the love. Thank you so much for your contribution. More

What can I say.? The driver had an accident in the Land Cruiser. Accidents happen. Staff Member accused of stealing. We have to trust volunteers unfortunately, there could have been a bad apple. It happens. No one stole from the safe and put it back the next day. That was a simple case of a volunteer misplacing her kindle and... More

The location is just great, very cool treehouse with amazing view and wild life. One of the things I really enjoyed is to hear monkeys when you wake up. Do not expect to much of a party place as seems to be when you look at the website. It wasn't when I was there, I guess that is more for... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Treehouse Poste Rojo is an amazing place located in an incredible jungle on the side of the Mombacho cloud forest. Yet is is only 10k. from the most visited tourist location in Nicaragua, Granada. It is on the road to Ometepe, San Juan del Sur and Costa Rica. So if you are heading North or South you will pass Treehouse Poste Rojo on your way to Granada. Although we have been open only 2 years it is one of the premier backpacker stops in Nicaragua. We are designed to be one with nature. Therefore, animals and other creatures are abundant. We had backpackers specifically in mind when we built the place. The accommodation is rustic but comfortable. We have a very good breakfast, lunch and snack menu. We also have a communal dinner every night that will be a highlight of your stay with us.We offer trips to Laguna, de Apoyo, Aqua Arias Springs, Mombacho Volcano, Las ISlettas, MiraFlores Canopy tour, Masaya and the mirador at Catarina. Although we try very hard to make every guest happy it is simply not possible. Each guest has different taste and different opinions. I welcome you to read the negative reviews verses the positive. Carefully reading the reviews and responses should make it abundantly clear whether you are the type of person who would love the experience we offer. In actuality about 95% of our guest are amazed and recommend the place to many other travelers. In fact, many other sources recommend us also. Essential Travel Magazine ranked it in the top ten destination hostels in the World. Several documentaries, TV shows and magazine articles have been created about us in our two years of being open. Some advice: When traveling in Central America please research carefully into your destinations and realize where you are and where you are going. Always secure your valuables. If you are not in physical shape don't go places that require a hike. If you are scared of spiders, snakes, frogs and monkeys stay away from the jungle. If you can not have the occasional bat or bug in your room please find a bio-dome somewhere. Spending $8 a night does not insure you other guest, monkeys or bats will not make noise. In fact, spending $300 a night will not insure that. And lastly, please stay in places that are appropriate to your needs, price range and taste. We sincerely hope you join our family for a few nights at Poste Rojo. We welcome all visitors. ... more   less
