I stayed at Pennys for 7 nights. Its advertised as being at White Sands but its actually quite far from there. There is a rocky beach not at all like the photos. The pool is great and does have a good outlook over the sea. The hotel is not walking distance to any beach so a tuk tuk is needed.... More

Beware of the pictures, as this hotel, despite being classified as on White Sand Beach, has no beach whatsoever. The rooms are average but there is no safe inside the room. The hotel offers a 'special' rate for scooter rentals of 300 baht per day but the standard rate on the island for short term rentals os 200 baht -... More

Although this place is slightly away from the main strip the tuk tuks are really cheap so enjoyed the stay. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Food was available and very good value, especially the shakes! The pool is nice and clean and you can sit closed to the pebbley beach if you like. The staff were so lovely.... More

We were surprised with our great room; large, clean, colourful. The garden area was pleasant. A good place to hide out on the way back to the ferry if you need to crash a night. The neighborhood is under major development. Nothing but construction and a bookstore nearby. Rocky beach but quite lovely view. The pool is to make up... More

Disappointed in location not in walking distance to beach. Rocks in front so not easy to get into the sea. Place needs a bit of love. Clean up around the rocks Owner only seen 3 times during our stay and very briefly so everything left up to staff. The breakfasts ham floating in water?

Pennys was an interesting place away from the mainstream. The rooms were good, the pool was well maintained and a good breakfast daily. Our hosts were nice and polite in the thai ways, though not much conversation was about during the meals. The manager was from Cambodia and very friendly but was returning home near the end of our stay.... More

And ran.Strolled around the grounds with a view to staying at Pennys. The expression on the face of the staff I encountered didn't exude too much confidence,i mean,if they are that unhappy?.Pool area was very nice.Wandering down to the beach...well frankly horrified. What should be a pebble and quite attractive beach(Pearl)was littered, some of which is unmentionable. The two strategically placed sun loungers were... Was apprehensive about booking Penny's Resort after reading some of the reviews on TA but decided to go ahead based on the cost. I was very pleased with my stay and believe the place to be excellent value for money. For the people on here moaning about location, please book somewhere else if this is important to you and be... The hotel is nice, beautifull bungalows just 2 kilometer away from the busy white beach. Problem with the hotel is the staff. Our booking got lost (agoda's mistake offcourse, not the hotel). First night perfect, but we had to swap rooms. Second night we were put in a totally different room outside the resort. Ugly sheets and a dirty bathroom... More

I'll tell a little story: I love bananshakes. Day one: do you have bananashake? They're on the ment. No... Day two: banana shake? No have. Day three: I bought bananas and yoghurt, please could you make bananashake? After much debate: Yes! I check out, they bill me for the shakes! It's a clean place, but too expensive.
