We stayed here for one night in March as a preference to doing a day trip from Mandalay, and still glad we did as we had a pleasant time in this old hill station. The botanical gardens were just a few minutes walk from the hotel and they were well worth the visit, as waw the Peik Khyin Myaung caves.... More

The artificially reconstructed British hill station/town of Mamyo, which was renamed Pyin Oo Lwin, has its charm, but also once aware of its history, it pales a bit. It was once a British resort during the colonial period, and it has been bought by a corporation which not only owns the buildings, but also the botanical gardens. The cabins are... More

This attractive esatblishment has a number of bungalows set in well tended grounds with named trees and nicely planted borders. The staff were probably the least friendly of any I met in Myanmar. That is not to say that they didn't provide a good service, because they did. I just felt that they were going through the motions with their... More

This old style building has a certain charm to it. It does need a little bit of TLC - the stair carpet has seen better days and the table cloths are so stained that washing no longer cleans them. But this does not detract from the charm. We stayed two nights and had an enormous room in the main building... More

An old British colonial house converted into a small guesthouse/hotel. It was the location of the British intelligence unit after WW2. Good clean rooms, with helpful staff, set in a beautiful location. Food is not great and I would suggest dinner at one of the many excellent local restaurants. Breakfast was basic but adequate. The nearby botanical gardens are worth... More

We stayed just one night in the lovely British hill town. Being January, the days were plenty warm, but it was cool at night. I loved finding a hot water bottle in the beautiful room. It reminded me of my childhood and keeping toes warm before electric blankets. There was plenty of hot water for my nighttime shower. Unfortunately, my... More

Maymyo (Pyin U Lwin) is such a beautiful old part of of Burma. As we approached the hotel it looked great on approach however that was the highlight. This is unfortunate as the place has so much potential. The location is ideal, just a 3 minute walk from the gate of the gardens (which are fantastic). It is about a... More

This was the least enjoyable of our hotels in Myanmar and, in truth, we were glad leave. We arrived after dark on a dank evening, so could not enjoy, the terrace (which looked closed), ate a poor meal and huddled in rooms which were on the cool side. We left early the following morning for a train trip and had... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed the hotel and staff. We had a junior suite in the main building with view to the lake, it was a lovely room with loads of space. The breakfast was good and we eat out on the verandah rather than the dining room. The staff spoke good English which was quite... More

I spent one night at Kandawgyi Hill Resort. As other reviewers have stated it's a quiet place to escape. As other reviewers have also said, its rooms are overdue for a makeover but are functional enough. Not much to say as my stay here was so brief. The staff was friendly if somewhat reserved. I borrowed a bike one afternoon... More
