In the last few days of January we were are Parmarth Niketan Ashram and this time we placed in Alakanda Block, always before I had been in Ganga block though it was under renovation and we were well located just off the garden in the main plaza area. They had discontinued there food service though a nearby ashram behind the... More

I rated it 1/5 as an Ashram but it's actually a good place to stay. Don't expect friendly advice and treatment from this place though, they have too many guests to care (i guess). The garden is pretty good and some rooms are better than others. There's no food offered btw, the website lies. Also expect to pay about 250... More

Parmarth's grounds are absolutely beautiful and enormous: the statues, shrines and gardens are wonderful, so it's worth visiting just to experience the beauty of it all. We stayed in a room in the Ganga Block which was pretty decent: the room was very tidy and clean enough although the floor was a bit dusty and the bathroom had rusty pipes.... More

Never again. this was torture. The rooms where dirty, dont ask about the bathroom. The light in the nighttime makes you fell that you are in prison. No slepp for 3 nights because of the never ending traffic right in front of the entrydoor. You feel like you are slepping on the Autobahn. Also the stuff breathtaking unfriendly.

As the title suggests, this was my 6th visit to Parmarth Niketan...as usual a bliss. About ashram, best location in Rishikesh... rooms have been renovated to bit western style now probably to cater the foreigner guests. But i like the simple ones to have the feel of Ashram. Reception area is shifted to a big hall...far better than the previous... More

Very neat & clean. Very very peaceful. Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan is divine!! Only thing is food is not available to all and you need to rely upon few restaurants nearby like chotiwalas. Overall fantastic experience

Out of a 3.5 week trip in India, the days spent at Parmarth and Rishikesh were my favorite. I am not a backpacker, not a yoga fiend, not particularly spiritual, but I wanted to have the experience of staying in an Ashram while in India and this was perfect. My favorite part of the experience was the evening Aarti. Lucky... More

1. Very rude and indifferent staff. Dikshit, who conducts the evening Ganga prayers, stands out as particularly obnoxious but can turn very obsequious if hard currency is on display. 2. Very avaricious setup and keen on westerners only for hard currency 3. As stated by others this is not a place for meditation or prayers but for those looking for... More

After careful planning and waiting two years to travel to India, we arrived to the ashram full of hope and love. We saw no love, felt no love and left after 1 day. The room was filthy, bedding unsanitary, and the canteen was closed so food was not nearby. We FROZE all night. We wore 3 layers of clothes, mittens,... More
