"Coming from The Inn at Little Washington, where we were married many years ago, we decided to book a two-night stay at The Goodstone Inn in Middleburg and prolong our annual anniversary celebration. We found Goodstone Inn to be most charming, luxuriant and romantic in a beautiful bucolic setting. We experienced impeccable service and the cuisine by Chef William Walden... More

We stayed at the Goodstone twice in 2009, and both experiences were excellent. The 7-course prix fixe dinner was the highlight in both cases, complementing the beautiful grounds and attentive service. We just returned over Labor Day, and two of the three aspects that made Goodstone so special have really declined. The menu and food are now very reminiscent of... More

Management response:

I appreciate your critique. It confirmed my concern about several deficient, yet remediable, areas of Goodstone's operation. You are right. We did experience an unfortunate decline in guest service quality at the end of the summer due to some sudden and unforeseen staffing problems. For this I sincerely apologize. I immediately addressed and resolved this deficiency by changing and/or adding... More

Recently, my wife and I decided to return to the Goodstone for an overnight stay. While last year's stay could not have been more enjoyable, our most recent trip was a different story. Just like last year, dinner at the Inn's restaurant was INCREDIBLE. However, our room left a great deal to be desired. Specifically, the bed felt and sounded... More

The review may seem overly picky, but for an inn that is charging $350-500+ a night, plus an additional service charge of about 15% on top of the room rate and applicable taxes, you expect a lot. We stayed in one of their suites. The rooms are somewhat small, but really they had no choice there in keeping with the... More

My wife and I arrived for our ten year anniversary and immediately there was a problem. Even though I had made a reservation online (and had supporting comfirmation email) the woman who checked us in told us that we were in a diffferent room. She made it look like it was our fault, and suggested we needed to pay the... More

All others have given this lovely estate a terrific review. I agree with virtually all of those reviews to a point. The grounds are lovely and there is an air of the horse country set that is not dissimilar from Bruern Stables in the Cotswolds, my all time favorite small luxury "farm" or stables hotel. The Hayloft room is very... More

Goodstone Inn is a luxurious inn that combines beautiful accomodations with going to great lengths to maintain the environment upon which it was built. I have stayed in the Stallion Suite and the Bull Barn. They are very luxurious yet maintain the rustic feel and the bullbarn even have the gates that surrounded the bulls. The whole property is beautiful... More

We stayed with friends in The Dutch House and it was a great way to start our holiday in Virginia having flown into Dulles airport, Washington. Perfect setting, peace and quite and everything you need. Great breakfasts!

Arrived to find tea and snacks being served around an inviting fire in the Cottage House fire place. Spent the next couple of hours unwinding and staring out at the beautiful views from the windows. Checked in, changed for dinner and then took our seats at a window side table. For a little over two hours we were treated to... More

Our stay was the result of a gift that allowed us to stay for a couple of nights and included dinner one evening. The staff was very attentive, the food and wine were excellent and the accommodations were lovely. We stayed in the Spring House, which is a self contained facility with a fully equipped kitchen including a great coffee... More
