We stayed 2 nights at the cabins. They were very very clean! The cabin was very cozy. I liked that it had 2 heaters and extra blankets for those chilly nights. The cabins had just about everything you need, except food of course! The bath house was the cleanest one I've seen at any campground. My kids had a great... More

Cabins are basic but very clean. Facilities are in the 'washhouse' nearby about thirty meters away. The cabins are well organised with very frendly and helpful staff. I came to stay one night but was so pleased with the place and its remote location that I stay five days. The sounds of the forrest at night are amazing. It gets... More

Ran up to the cabin for a quick one night get away with some friends from out of town and had a blast. Fire in the outdoor fireplace, wine tasting just down the road, and food just down the road the other way. Quiet and has every ammenity you could need. Love this place. Nothing fancy about it but just... More

We stayed here a few years back under old management and enjoyed it. Our most recent trip found some nice improvements that made our stay very enjoyable. Obviously, it is cabin camping so rustic and spartan are pros, not cons in my book. It was nice to see window fans and space heaters added to the cabins, it was 90+... More

Do yourself a flavour and stay here if you're touring the US by car. It's so much nicer than the highway accomm. We stumbled across it, read TripAdvisor reviews, and got the only room with a shower and toilet in it (the disabled room - number 18). It was soooooo peaceful and the caretakers were soooooo helpful. Make sure you... More

Enjoyed out stay at cabin 20, Perfect for us. The cabin was rustic and clean. No bugs, no mold, The beds were comfortable. We enjoyed a non-commercial afternoon and headed into Floyd in the eve. No problems with the cabins. They were large and well furnished. The young lady at the reception was bright and efficient. This was late October,... More

We are currently planning our 2012 long weekend stay at Rocky Knob for the fourth year in a row. We have enjoyed our stays there so much, that this year we are renting out all 7 cabins and bringing along a big group of friends to share the fun. The cabins are great to escape everyday life and just enjoy... More

We have been going to RKC for over 20 years. We have enjoyed the setting, rustic cabins, location to other activities, hikes down the gorge, and just the chance to "get away." We usually rent all the cabins, and were told to do so if we didn't want to worry about the noise we made. This past year, we were... More

Hello there :) I would like to point out that this post was written before the new management (me) took over, as our season doesn't begin until May. The good news about this post, is that I have since spoken with the person who wrote this, and they are excited to come back hopefully in 2012. I have made several... More

A step back in time. The surrounding trees, the friendly fellow travelers, the thoughtful staff all make a few nights in these cabins almost like an older heaven. No TV, cells won't work, peace. Together! The cabins and bathhouse are clean. And what a base to explore these hills!

These beautiful little cabins are tucked away just off the Blue Ridge Parkway about 8 miles from the town of Floyd, VA. They are very clean, cozy, and the site itself is lovely and well maintained. The staff is wonderful and friendly. Best of all, you can bring your pets. There is so much to see and do, such as... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
An historical must-see on the Blue Ridge Parkway! We have 7 rustic cabins that were built by the CCCs in 1935; to house themselves while they worked on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The grounds are well-kept, and the entire place is very peaceful. The cabins are positioned in a semicircle, around the bath house. Since this is National Park Service Property, it is secluded, surrounded by woods, and has open grassy areas, birds, and wildlife. A short walk away is the 2-mile connector trail down to the 10.5-mile Rock Castle Gorge hiking loop, it takes the better part of a day to complete all 14.5 miles. Each cabin has 2 full-sized beds in it, you can rent a rollaway cot for an additional $8 per night, and we provide all your bedding and extra blankets. There is also a small kitchen in each cabin, which contains a full-sized fridge, mini double-burner stove, microwave, 4-cup coffee maker, and small sink with cold-running water. We provide utensils, dishes, and some cookware. We have outdoor games like volleyball, badminton, croquet, horse shoes, and frisbee, to make you get outside with your family. People all seem to enjoy rocking on their front porch in their rocking chairs, it is a nice escape to simpler times. ... more   less
