This was a wonderful B&B in the heart of Mathews that has unfortunately since closed when the Innkeeper retired. The only B&B left in Mathews County now is The Inn at Tabbs Creek in Port Haywood, VIrginia

Given the previous reviews we were expecting something special from Buckley Hall and we were not disappointed. Beth was a most obliging and helpful host and she made our stay perfect. The rooms were very comfortable with everything you could desire and the quiet and peace of the Hall were delicious! Speaking of delicious, the breakfasts were delightful and very... More

My husband and I stayed here for our weekend honeymoon. We arrived in our wedding attire, just after our wedding reception had ended. We were warmly greeted by Mrs. Beth and were shown to our room. The room was immaculately clean and quite charming. We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed a delicious breakfast each morning with the inn's... More

This place is great for the true B&B lover. It is a lovely colonial home, full of antique or reproduction furniture. Everything is spotless. There is a nice front porch with wicker furniture so you can sit and watch the world go by. The hosts are congenial and knowledgeable and obviously love Mathews, Va. The room was comfortable but the... More

I stayed here when in Matthews for a family get together and we took all four rooms for a couple of days. The owner, Beth, was very welcoming on arrival and showed us our rooms and had fresh baked goods waiting for us as well. The rooms were absolutely beautiful and immaculate with extremely comfortable beds, which were turned down... More

Purely by chance we found ourselves without a bed for the night on our way to Washington via the Chesapeake Bay westside. Determined to stay right by the Bay we turned right at Gloucester and headed for Mathews not knowing what we might find. What we actually found was a treasure ( and not just Beth). This is a must... Just got back from a quick, one night getaway from Richmond. We intentionally picked a destination with very little to do but relax. As others have commented, the inn is spotless and very warm and inviting. Beth is a terrific hostess, with little touches like turning down the beds, lemon bars for snack and delicious, full breakfasts. The town is... More

My husband & I stayed at the inn in May 2009 and had a wonderful, relaxing stay. The innkeeper, Beth, was extremely helpful when I made the reservations & allowed us to check in an hour early because of our schedule. We traveled with another couple who stayed in the New Point Comfort Rm & we stayed in the Halieford... More

I found this B&B online, there weren't many to choose from in this small town but I definately picked the best one! The Innkeeper, Beth Lewis, was wonderful. She keeps a meticulously clean B&B; not one cobweb, dustball, stain, or speck of anything unclean anywhere. The home is formal without being stuffy, is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. When we... More
