The Francis Marion is an older hotel with a look from the twenties. There's a nice renovation in progress. Our room with fairly roomy and the bed was quite comfortable with very nice linen. The TV was older and a bit blurry(not a flat screen). The halls were very nice, and gave you a real sense of the past. The... More

My husband and I were traveling south, late last evening and every hotel we checked was booked for events. The GFM had a cancelation and we took the last room in the hotel and are so happy we did. Comfortable and clean. I wanted to pack up the bed and take it home. Amy, the late night desk clerk, was... More

The hotel is well done and reasonably priced. The hallways could do with a good clean as the dust is so thick on the skirting boards on floor 4 that they look white when in fact they are a dark stain. Bed is comfortable and the facilities all work. Very nice just needs a bit more life in it and... More

We were traveling south and looking for a place to stop. Based on the good reviews, I called about 5PM to see if they had rooms available for tonight. Amy at the desk said yes, and gave me the rates. I explained that we were traveling and not sure how far we would make it, but would call to confirm... More

I would like to offer our apologies for the less than average customer service you received during your check in process with us. I assure you this is by no means the way our Guest Service Agent are trained. I have no idea why you were treated this way and have discussed your situation and conducted retraining with the individual... More

The General Francis Marion Hotel is a very nice boutique hotel in downtown Marion. We've not gotten to eat dinner in the restaurant, but the breakfast is very good. This is a great place to stay if you're going to explore Grayson Highland and Hungry Mother State Parks. There are several good restaurants nearby, and some nice old homes.

I travel weekly for business and the General Francis Marion is one of those hotels that makes the week better. The rooms have been perfectly designed to keep that historical feel with the modern touches every traveler expects. The two restaurants owned by the hotel are the best in Marion! Simply put....this is a gem to be experienced when traveling... More

Stayed in the General Francis Marion Hotel for a Saturday night on Memorial Day weekend. We've driven by several times as was impressed with the looks of the place. We're planning an event in Marion in July so we were scouting out the area. Stepping in feels like you're stepping back in time. The lobby is gorgeous. Check in was... More

Hotel is conveniently located. It was built as a luxury hotel in the early 20s and maintains that look and feel today. It is clean, comfortable, and very well cared for. We had the luxury queen room and were not disappointed. The hotel restaurant, the Black Rooster, provides a very nice continental breakfast. This hotel is a terrific value!

We travel often up and down the I-81 corridor, and often look for places to stay off the beaten path. This one was a winner. The hotel was built in the early 1900s and was refurbished in 2006. The rooms are elegant and modern but with an old-timey feel, with the original doors and hardwood flooring. Prices are reasonable. The... More

We have stayed at the hotel several times. Yes, rooms are small but that generally goes with the territory in a historic property. The staff is always lovely. The Junior Executive Suite is the best-we stayed in the Executive Suite on our latest trip and the noise from some kind of a/c system or other fan was so loud that... More
