This hotel is one of the more interesting ones that I've stayed at. The rooms are very small, but that and the setup of the entire complex encourages getting out and interacting with others. The hotel reminds me of a Cold War bunker, complete with underground tunnels. Good food and location.

Hi OsirisH2O: Thank you for taking time to post a review on TripAdvisor. As you know, The National is not a hotel or resort; we are a training and conference facility. With that in mind, our guests like the smaller guest rooms because they are not in them very long. As one person recently said, they are for sleeping; not... More

I attend conferences with some frequency, and my scholarship association hosts an annual conference at the NCC. I really enjoyed my time there last year and look forward to going back this weekend. Some thoughts: ROOMS: Yes, they are small, but not smaller than some of the places I've stayed. They're designed for sleeping in, not living in, and they're... More

: Dear Moriah H: We're delighted you're coming back and that you took time to give an honest opinion of The National. Since your visit last year, we have made several improvements. ROOMS: We have renovated a sampling of guest rooms and the bathrooms making them more contemporary, comfortable and just the right size. We find most guests do not... More

The staff, other than the front desk who were rude and inefficient, were all very friendly and helpful. (Just don't ask them any questions.) The place smells like an old hospital. The facility has a lot of conference space. But then so do most large hotels. The guest rooms here are tiny. The few TV channels have static. The food... More

I recently stayed at the NCC for 8 days for a work training event. Here are my thoughts after my stay: GROUNDS: This is definitely an interesting facility. Apparently it was built by Xerox as a training facility in the ‘70s (it’s mind boggling to me that one company would need such a large training campus!). It has an underground... More

When you plan a event and choose NCC you do so based on location. It is relatively close to Dulles airport but at the same time sufficiently far away from any distraction (bars, shopping etc) outside of the NCC. This allows the organizers of any event to very well manage the event and ensure that the attendees are ready for... More

Dear Per K: Thank you so much for taking time to post a review on TripAdvisor. You clearly understand what The National is all about....training and meetings. We do have a large facility, but used correctly, we can handle almost any time of meeting, training or event. Thanks again for taking time to post this review. More

I stayed here for 5 nights on business. I understand Xerox built this property some years ago with the intention of using it (and maybe they did, not sure) as their global training facility. Pros: -Delicious food -Attentive staff -Enormous facility. From a small meeting to a large wedding, I think the size of this place would enable it to... More

Just spent a week here for some job training. NCC has everything you need for the stay. Solid food with good quality choices and lots of variety. The newly renovated bar is a great place to socialize and catch a game. All the meeting rooms are set up to meet your needs, and the staff does a great job making... More

This location is great for a conference but the rooms are glorified college dorm rooms. It had all the basics but that was about it. The food was fine and was just like standard hotel food. Most of our group called it the compound and that was pretty much an accurate description.

Hi BobbyGHollywood. Every review is important to every staff person here at The National. We’re not sure which training session you were attending, but The National is a large facility developed specifically for training and meeting purposes. . The size of the rooms were specifically designed to encourage attendees to spend time outside of their rooms in the common areas... More

Had a sales training at the national conference centre. Although the facilities include everything you technically need for a conference, the place is quite old and smells like hospital. The rooms were tiny and could barely fit one person. The food was decent although we had an issue one night with having a vegan option, however that was quickly rectified... More

First off, I highly recommend reading Wikipedia for a history on this facility and how and why it is the way it is -- confusing layout and stark concrete architecture. The Conference Center was renovated about 12 years ago, but most of the money went into the main reception and conference area. The rooms are very small (think cruise ship... More

Thank you, Brian, for taking time to post a review. The National does have a 40 year history as a training facility; that’s one of the reasons we’re so successful at this business model.
