Avoid if you possibly can. Second event I have been at here recently and their bar service is awful. Some stupid ticketing system causing a long line followed by another long line for a drink at understaffed bar. I don't know whether this is because of a licensing issue or something but until they address I suggest not hosting or... More

Stayed at the conference center for a few nights during a conference. This center is designed for conferences and not for hanging out in your room. If you go in knowing that you won't have a problem with the bare-bones rooms. Beds and water pressure were average. It's a long walk to many of the rooms so give yourself time... More

one good thing about NCC is the staff. They were always helpful and so nice. NCC is an interesting facility in and of itself. First off, it would have been better had our whole group been housed in the same building. Second, the food was really not that great. Third, there was an awful smell in the hallway I was... More

Stayed here 3 nights for work conference. Was immediately regretting the decision and wishing I had stayed elsewhere and commuted for symposium. Rooms were 100% dull and uninviting. Reminded me of dorm rooms. Co-worker and I joked that the hallways reminded us of a hospital. Main Conference Center/meeting rooms okay. VERY chilly, so bring a jacket and pants vice dresses.... Dear Allisonwaltershoover: Thank you for taking time to post your opinion on TripAdvisor. Every comment is important to us, and we read them carefully and share with our staff. The National is a training and conference facility; it’s not a hotel or a resort. The guest rooms at the National were designed for a specific purpose: to encourage guests to... More

This was my second stay at the NCC and I just cannot recommend it as a good facility. First, I want to acknowledge that the staff were very friendly and helpful to me, and the dining facilities are very good as well. If only I were rating the facility on these components it would get a much higher rating. First,... More

This hotel is one of the more interesting ones that I've stayed at. The rooms are very small, but that and the setup of the entire complex encourages getting out and interacting with others. The hotel reminds me of a Cold War bunker, complete with underground tunnels. Good food and location.

Hi OsirisH2O: Thank you for taking time to post a review on TripAdvisor. As you know, The National is not a hotel or resort; we are a training and conference facility. With that in mind, our guests like the smaller guest rooms because they are not in them very long. As one person recently said, they are for sleeping; not... More

I attend conferences with some frequency, and my scholarship association hosts an annual conference at the NCC. I really enjoyed my time there last year and look forward to going back this weekend. Some thoughts: ROOMS: Yes, they are small, but not smaller than some of the places I've stayed. They're designed for sleeping in, not living in, and they're... More

: Dear Moriah H: We're delighted you're coming back and that you took time to give an honest opinion of The National. Since your visit last year, we have made several improvements. ROOMS: We have renovated a sampling of guest rooms and the bathrooms making them more contemporary, comfortable and just the right size. We find most guests do not... More

The staff, other than the front desk who were rude and inefficient, were all very friendly and helpful. (Just don't ask them any questions.) The place smells like an old hospital. The facility has a lot of conference space. But then so do most large hotels. The guest rooms here are tiny. The few TV channels have static. The food... More

I recently stayed at the NCC for 8 days for a work training event. Here are my thoughts after my stay: GROUNDS: This is definitely an interesting facility. Apparently it was built by Xerox as a training facility in the ‘70s (it’s mind boggling to me that one company would need such a large training campus!). It has an underground... More

When you plan a event and choose NCC you do so based on location. It is relatively close to Dulles airport but at the same time sufficiently far away from any distraction (bars, shopping etc) outside of the NCC. This allows the organizers of any event to very well manage the event and ensure that the attendees are ready for... More

Dear Per K: Thank you so much for taking time to post a review on TripAdvisor. You clearly understand what The National is all about....training and meetings. We do have a large facility, but used correctly, we can handle almost any time of meeting, training or event. Thanks again for taking time to post this review. More
