My wife and I found this true gem near the historical area of nearby Fredericksburg, The over 300 year old southern plantation along with Michelle and Brett's friendly hospitality are just what you would expect from one of Virginia's most prestigious historical homes. The house is decorated with period antiques making us feel as though we were guests of one... More

Michelle provided my wife and me a truly unexpected experience - so much so that we are planning to return to get more of the same and to have her tell us about her latest research about the Father of the US Constitution, the Madison and Conway families and her latest artifact finds. She and her husband, Brett, are aggressively... More

When you stay at Belle Grove you step back in time. Michelle and Brett have done a fantastic job at furnishing and restoring this wonderful centuries-old plantation. It's history includes having the foundation of President Madison's birthplace underneath the plantation as well as having John Wilkes Booth pass through the area shortly before being killed. The house is impressive. We... More

Michelle and Brett were excellent hosts. They told us to consider the house our home when we were there, and we did. Michelle gave us a great tour of the house. Her breakfast was delicious and the homemade cookies at turndown were grand. I loved spending my birthday in the place James Madison was born! The antique furnishings were so... More

Had a wonderful experience at Belle Grove Plantation today. I've been to many Colonial times homes and plantations, but this one was particularly enjoyable. First off, had a wonderful guide, Michelle. You were actually allowed to walk "in" the rooms! No standing in doorways, stretching you neck trying to see the rooms from behind a rope. AND you could sit... More

We had a wonderful visit! The kids got to sit on furniture and hold artifacts that were found on site. The guide took her time and answered the children questions! !!!! It was well worth the trip. The children loved sitting on Lincoln 's couches and hearing where all the art and furniture had been gathered.

Overnighting at Bell Grove is a great way to experience the quiet and serenity that rural colonials must have felt -- even as they were fighting diseases that we've long since cured and working toward the independence that we've long since achieved. James Madison -- who was born here and probably stayed his first six months of life -- never... More

My husband and I enjoyed our stay and look forward to a future visit. Service is excellent and the view of the river is beautiful! The home has so many wonderful qualities and is rich in its history. Great location to stay and visit the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail which is what we did.

We just returned home for our stay at Belle Grove Plantation. We celebrated our 33rd. wedding anniversary and my birthday as well. What a treat! What a fabulous, beautiful place. Brett and Michelle are simply the most hospitable Innkeepers. Their love for Belle Grove and for the preservation of the history is heart warming. It is a passion particulary for... More
