The Hope and Glory Inn is a Conde Nast Johansens recommended inn of 7 rooms and 14 cottages. Travel+Leisure named it one of "30 Great Inns in the US." Frommer's writer describes it as "one of the most fascinating and romantic country inns I've ever had the pleasure of occupying." Historic schoolhouse, eclectically styled, hopelessly romantic, classic vessel, hip pool, renowned chef, winery, vineyard, in a trendy waterfront town with chic shops, destination golf. more » « less

If you looking for really cute, this place is great. Other than that, there is really nothing to do in the town of Irvington, or the surrounding towns. There is no cell phone service. Lunch and dinner choices are very limited in the area also. There is a sandwich shop nearby, but it's not very good. We were unable to... more

If you are looking for a romantic getaway where you'll come away pampered and rested with your senses awakened, this is the place. This beautifully restored and decorated old school house and its assorted cottages are surrounded by glorious gardens with a touch of whimsy, like the (optional) outdoor bath and shower. We felt like we were staying at a... more

Peggy and Dudley, who own and operate the Inn, have outdone themselves. My husband and I, along with one other couple, stayed in Cottage 3, which was a two bedroom, one bath cottage with sitting room, private fenced in patio, and front patio. The accomodations were stunning - down comforters, feather pillows, beautifully decorated rooms. Breakfast both days was of... more

My sister and I came to the Hope and Glory for a "mini girls weekend away" and we had the best time! We were able to walk to all the shops and the vineyard for wine samples. Not only was the wine incredibly tastey, but the people were friendly too. Peggy Patteson had given us a few ideas about places... more

We have recently returned from our stay at the Hope and Glory Inn, in Irvington, VA. What a delightful time. We so enjoy the tranquility this area provides and the special treatement provided by Peggy and Dudley at the Hope and Glory Inn. This is only our 2nd visit to their B&B. Great accomodations, food, spirits and environment. We will... more

Coming back to the "real world" was somewhat difficult after our recent weekend retreat. My husband and I had a wonderful time together as we visited the Hope and Glory Inn for a winter weekend get-away. We felt as if we were true, long-time, family members as we were met by Dudley and Peggy, our hosts They were both so... more

Recently my fiance and I chose to be married at The Hope and Glory Inn. We wanted an intimate setting, which was warm and welcoming. We were not disappointed. The Inn was beautiful and the ceremony very heartfelt. Dudley is also a justice of the peace, therefore, he worked with us to make the vows very personal. The entire day... more

My fiance and I stay in many inns, and even in the off season, this inn is very expensive for what you get. The breakfasts are good, but not outstanding. The linens and towels are, as some other reviewers noted, nowhere near luxury (far below the standard of, say, a Westin). The soaps and shampoo were also a big disappointment... more

We, as owners, do value constructive comments from our guests and appreciate that they have taken the time to write. Particularly knowing their stay with us was two "awful" nights, we do wish our guests had given us the opportunity to make it right after the first night. Regarding our pet friendly accommodations, we note on our website and in...

I stayed here for a friend's wedding. The house, rooms, and ground were beautiful, but EXPENSIVE. I don't think I would have minded if the proprieter had been more customer friendly...during the welcome reception the night before the wedding a passerby threw a wine bottle at our party in the backyard. No one was hurt, but after being called the... more

I fell in love with the Inn when I first visited several years ago, but a few small things are starting to slide. Some examples that spring to mind: The buildings could use a fresh coat of paint. I agree with a previous reviewer that the oversized, fluffy towels of the past have been replaced with thin, cheap ones. The... more

Thank you “summgirl” for returning as our guest and saying the inn is still “gorgeous and breathtaking”! We do appreciate the compliments throughout your review. We can also assure you we have left nothing “to slide”. We do not always look our best at the end of our season and in the dead of winter. Your suggestions are exactly what...
