We went on a whim and were glad we did. The staff is gracious and considerate, the rooms are very nice. We enjoyed modest Stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking, and we sat by the pool. Considerable wildlife was about. The restaurant is excellent for all meals. Old-tidewater charm was in effect throughout our stay. We'll be going back.

While visiting my sister and husband in the Northern Neck of VA, they took me to a light Sunday evening dinner. It was a "10" night, cool, clear and the view of the water was sparkling as the sun set. The seating outside was perfect with comfortable tables and chairs around pit fires. The food was perfect and though we... More

(A very detailed review as usual...) I had never heard of the Tides until I sent out a neighborhood listserv email looking for a beautiful place to bring my grandmother for her 90th. Everyone, including my neighbors, raved about it. My grandmother is going to FL but we went with a friend (and her dog) for Labor Day. If your... More

We visited The Tides Inn in early September during the week. We found the room rates to be very reasonable and we chose this hotel because of its close proximity to Richmond. We found all of the employees to be very friendly and helpful and always smiling. Overall the resort was very quiet and not very full. It was still... More

A nice place to go for a break. Lots of outdoor activities for adults and families when the weather is good but not much to do when the monsoons hit. Previous trips over the years have been blessed with good weather and activities. Lots to choose from. We splurged and booked a suite which was nice but beginning to show... More

My husband and I stayed here for three nights. We had a wonderful time. The staff was so hospitable and friendly. The room was nice. The views were amazing. The activities were fun. The food was good but not great. However, the amazing service made up for anything that was lacking. Can't wait to go back.

We are from nearby Maryland yet never stayed at the Tides Inn. It was a quick getaway and we truly enjoyed our experience. The service was wonderful! We were made to feel so welcomed. The staff is both knowledgeable and friendly. The General Manager came around greeting and chatting with guests. Our room was lovely…the view spectacular. Just be careful... More

For the pricepoint, I almost gave this two stars, but that didn't seem quite right. The location is beautiful. The views, particularly from the terrace at breakfast and in the evenings, are just gorgeous and it is utterly tranquil. Very relaxing experience. The property, particularly inside, is in need of updating. Our room smelled musty. It was spacious and clean,... More

We just spent four nights at The Tides Inn with our multi generational family which included my husband and me, our daughter and her husband, our son and his wife, and four boys under the age of six. We all agreed it was one of our best vacations ever! First of all, the setting is absolutely beautiful- the water views... More
