First time guest at The Tides, more planned. The special destination is truly charming, sophisticated yet comfortable, and situated in a Booth Bay Harbouresque setting in the Northern Neck of Virginia. Our accomdations overlooked the marina, providing spectacular sunsets, and the setting for evening cocktails along side a glowing chimnea. Complimentary bycyles, nine hole golf, canoes, swimming, etc, all enhanced... more

I wrote the bad review on 9/13/2009. Since then I was contacted by Gordon Slatford, GM of the Tides. We had several conversations which helped both of us understand the circumstances. As it turns it with the first complaint, HOTELBEDS.com or therealplaces.com is actually the 3rd party affiliate which blew this wonderful weekend. I am still in dispute with one... more

My husband and I simply stopped in to have a few drinks and were terribly disappointed. We decided to sit outdoors and the place was completely empty besides the one other couple who was also sitting outside. The view is gorgeous and it was very relaxing. We ordered 2 drinks and didn't see them for 20 minutes. We waited patiently... more

Pros: Beautiful View from main grounds and select rooms, management that is willing to work with guests, use of kayaks and bikes offered to all guests at no add'l charge, relaxing atmosphere for unwinding. Cons: Deteriorated balconies and poor views in the Garden House and Lancaster House, exceedingly slow service for meals, NOTHING else around the Inn - this must... more

We were excited to spend our anniversary weekend here based on their website and the amenities offered. While the view was beautiful and the location quite nice, there was a lot to be desired. The room was very nice and they upgraded us to as suite which was a pleasant surprised. We enjoyed the balcony even though it seemed a... more

My wife and I just returned from a two-night stay at Tides Inn in Irvington, Virginia, on the occasion of our wedding anniversary. We would highly recommend it, possibly as the best overall resort-type experience available in Virginia (depending on what you are looking for). It’s a small-ish hotel which gives one the feeling of personalized service. The staff was... more

I stayed here over a weekend in the middle of July with my wife. We had a meal plan that included breakfast and lunch which was worth it once we looked over the menu ($$$$). We found the hotel very clean and well maintained. The grounds were immaculate and well groomed. The staff was outstanding. Everyone from the pool staff... more

My husband and I decided to visit the Tides Inn for our anniversary and I had read mixed reviews but we had not visited the area in a number of years so decided to try it. Also, since it is AAA rated etc we thought it would be quite nice. Well, we were very disappointed with our room. First of... more

The rehearsal dinner for our son's wedding was held in the Cove Room at The Tides Inn. The entire event for 80 people went beautifully from the planning stage to the dinner itself! The food was excellent and the staff gracious! Many of the guest and the wedding party were staying at the Inn. I never heard a single complaint!... more

My significant other and I were looking for a quiet, romantic, tucked-away place to spend our three-year anniversary. We read and heard good things about the tides inn and its surroundings so we decided to spend it there. Before getting into the details, I would like to emphasize that we were overall very satisfied to have chosen the tides inn... more
