Historical, great service and fairly reasonable price. A fantastic family location year around with plenty of great activities. Located in the beautiful and historic Shenandoah region of Virginia. Worth the drive, highly recommend this place.

My wife and I went to the Homestead for a long weekend. The Hotel is first class! There are activities for every age! We did a horseback trail ride-beautiful, we were sad that all we could get was a 30 minute ride-an hour would have been much better. The canyon hike is a must do--be sure to have Brian as... More

Thank you for choosing The Homestead for a long weekend getaway. We are thrilled that you enjoyed so many of the things that make The Homestead special, in particular a hike in the Cascades Gorge with Brian. Brian is indeed a valued member of our team and he will be delighted you took the time to recognize his efforts to... More

Beautiful location and majestic architecture frame this elegant hotel/spa. Especially attractive during the fall when the leaves are changing color. World class SPA with more amenities than I've seen anywhere, including hot natural mineral springs. Dining in the main hall with live music and dancing was first rate.

I've been here a couple of times with my wife, and frankly I'd really rather give it a 3.5 rating instead of a 4. This old hotel/resort is typical of its era - big, imposing, some impressive architecture, smallish rooms with that Lillian Vernon style décor, a bunch of "activities" for families and kids, and 3 or 4 dining rooms/pubs.... We went to the Homestead to celebrate a birthday. We had visited briefly in the past but it was a memorable experience to stay there. All the activities (golf, falconry, carriage ride) were just what we wanted. The food was fabulous and the service superb. It was worth the cost (at least once).

Don't be fooled by the low room rates or deals, The Homestead WILL get their money out of you. Unfortunately, you won't get much back in terms of being pampered or feeling special. They are trying to turn The Homestead into a modern luxury resort, but forgot to tell the relatively untrained staff. I would prefer a cheaper, more rustic... More

We took our first trip to the Homestead for my parents' 50th Anniversary. Although I attended college in the area I had never visited the Homestead. Our travelling party included my parents and sister, my wife and I and our kids ages 12, 10 and 7. It was a great trip. The location is beautiful although not easy to get... More

We recently spent five days at The Homestead, and it was a fabulous experience. The resort is big ... really big. We opted for staying in the main building (in a tower room, with a balcony) so that we wouldn't need to go outside to get to the restaurant or shops. We LOVED the room - great views, very comfy... The Homestead has been a family favorite for more than 40 years and despite the time and age of us all the Homestead has maintained the edge and charm as well as the amazing feel of being at home. They staff is incredible and the food is at the top of the mark. Pricey, but if you want cheap go... More

A great place to go and relax. The new spa is great. The staff could not be any friendlier. The food is excellent. It is a beautiful location.
