Thank you to the North River Inn for a truly memorable, comfortable, and relaxing wedding night. My husband and I stayed at the Toddsbury Guest House and were so happy to see a snack tray and champagne waiting for us when we arrived. We had a very comfortable and cozy night in this clean and well-kept guest house. The view... More

This is an absolutely wonderful bed and breakfast. We have stayed here a few times now, both at what they call the Creek House and at the Guest Cottage, and both are absolutely beautiful. There is a natural elegance to the furnishings in each that sets the tone for the whole place. The open stretches of field, graceful old trees,... More

This was a lovely retreat for my husband and our young daughter. We stayed for a week last April, and found nice temperatures and blooming flowers. The beds were very comfortable, with down comforters for the nights that were cooler. The room we stayed in had two private bathrooms! The lack of TV encouraged a much needed "digital detox." I... Positives: cute little house cluttered with antiques, nice views Negatives: shower unsuitable for normal-sized people, loud blowy window A/C, limited telephone comms, no TV, undependable wireless, minimal comfortable seating, do-it-yourself breakfast with no adequate workspace to prepare it and no downstairs plumbing in case of spills or other clean-up. All this for an outrageous price! Totally uncomfortable and unacceptable for... More

The North River Inn will always hold a special place in our hearts. My husband and I recently got married within the area and were looking for a special place to welcome his family in from France (he's French and I'm Virginian!). We booked out the entire piece of land at North River (all 3 houses) for a week and... More

I visited The North River Inn on two occasions, and found both experiences especially peaceful, interesting and restorative. Near the holidays we stayed in the cozy guest house, and in the well-equipped River House this spring. I have memories of nice linens, scrumptious breakfast, and grounds that are reminiscent of another time. The Inn hosts can offer excellent historical knowledge... More

We visited North River Inn on the recommendation of a friend who knows the owners. Gloucester, Virginia is not on the standard tourist trail but in fact makes a very good base for exploring the Historic Triangle - Jamestown, Yorktown and Williamsburg. It was a delightful discovery; a gorgeous place that deserves to be better-known. The guest-houses date from the... More

I had to come to Virginia for a wedding an wanted to experience something other than 3 nights in a Hampton inn. Luck for me, a relative suggested the North River Inn near Gloucester Courthouse. Reservations were easy, directions were emailed as promised. When I arrived, I quickly learned I had the entire house to myself! The peace and quiet... More

I have stayed at the North River Inn four times over the past two years and each visit has been better than the previous stay. The property is old and historic, comprised of three structures converted to B&B. I have stayed in all three and each offers its own unique charms as described in accurate detail on their excellent website.... More
