Janie and Ann are the consummate hostesses! The inn is lovely - situated on a quite street near Longwood University's campus. Ample street parking (just get the parking permit upon check-in) is available and it is just a short drive (a couple minutes) or walk (10-15 min) to downtown Farmville. Breakfast was amazing!!! Coffee, tea, juice, fruit and yogurt, frittata,... More

My husband, sister-in-law, and I stayed at the Inn on the Avenues for two nights in July to attend a family wedding. We found it to be everything a good B&B should be. I especially liked: The warm welcome and hospitality of Janie and Ann. I enjoyed hearing about the history of the house and town over wine and cheese... More

I stayed two nights at The Inn on the Avenues while in Farmville to attend Stratford Hall's Robert E. Lee symposium on the Civil War [Sailors Creek and Appomattox] in mid-June 2015. The Inn is immaculately clean and comfortable, convenient, well appointed, and amenities are thoughtfully provided. I stayed in the Daisy Room. A friend stayed in another room. Each... More

'Greeted on the front porch of The Inn by co-owner Janie Irons-with resident pooch 'Cotton' in tow-and taken in to the charming Inn where we were offered refreshments, shown the layout of the century old home and shown to our room, the Hunt Room as reserved earlier. The room was appointed with period furnishings but brought up to date with... More

My husband and I stayed at this gem when we biked the High Bridge Trail. Janie and Ann were excellent hosts. The breakfast was fabulous and their hospitality was awesome. The resident dog, Cotton, did his part to welcome us to his home. Clean, comfortable and everything you need for a great stay in Farmville. The front porch was amazing... More

I booked The Inn on the Avenues to be in good position to get to Appomattox Court House National Historical Park on April 8th on the 150th anniversary of Lee’s surrender to Grant at McLean House. Hotel options in Appomattox are very limited and not rated well so I opted for staying here. It was a pleasant 40-minute drive from... More

The home is beautiful with lots of originality. It's an older home with lots of personality and beautifully updated. The room we stayed at was the Daisy. All rooms are spacious and have their own bathrooms and are decorated so uniquely. We were greeted by Cotton when we first arrived- sweetest doggie!! The hosts had warm cookies when we arrived-... We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ann and Janie's Inn. They are the epitome of the phrase Southern Hospitality. The Daisy Room very comfortable and the breakfast was not only tasty but generous as well. Love the high ceilings and airy sitting rooms. Also, we found Cotton their dog to be a gracious host. We look forward to our next... More

We stayed one night at the Inn on the Avenues and were very pleased. Our room (The Garden Room) was very attractive and comfortable. The location is very conventient to Longwood College and Farmville 'downtown'. There is a lot of fun to be had in such a small town, between browsing Greenfront's furniture, biking or walking on the High Bridge... More

As a first time B &B visitor, I was nervous! There was no reason to be! The owners welcomed us and sat & chatted a bit about the history of the area. The house was beautiful & clean! I felt like we were visiting family! We stayed in the garden room. It was clean, fresh and inviting! The bed was... More
