After reading many reviews of the Old Mill Inn here on TripAdvisor, we decided to splurge and rent a 3rd floor room with balcony overlooking Laurel Creek and the old mill dam. I've blogged about it on Ken Loyd's Eclectic Blog with a load of pictures. The inn's website is very informative, so you know what you're getting. Though we... More

The Old Mill is a great place to stay for riding the Creeper trail. We took a shuttle up from the Blue Blaze bike shop, which is a block away, so when you finish, you are "home." They let us check in early, making it possible to do the Whitetop to Damascus section that afternoon (call ahead and reserve a... More

Beautifully restored mill. Guest rooms have attention to detail. Sun-Thursday the place is quiet, but the weekends offer live music and more guests. The staff is laid back and they really try to make you feel at home. If you arrive on Monday or Tuesday....expect to drive to Abingdon for dinner.

Front desk clerk welcoming and gave us key to "personal entrances" which came with our room overlooking the water. Two days later when husband went to take luggage to car the key opened none of the doors except one which was on the second floor. After waiting for someone to check us out, we were told the key did work... More

On our fly/drive thru the Appalation Mountains stopped the night at the Damascus Old Mill Inn, situated on the Laurel river in the heart of the mountains. The hotel is an old mill still with the feel of history beside the mill pond. This was Labor day weekend and we thought it would be busy but in fact was quiet,... More

This was our second year in a row to stay at the Dancing Bear while riding the Virginia Creeper Trail. The rooms are super clean and Melissa and Shannon are fantastic hosts. The breakfast couldn't be better. Hopefully, I will have the opportunity to stay again! I definitely recommend it.

We were more than pleased to find this terrific Old Mill Inn on the Appalachian Trail. Large, period rooms, great on-site restaurant, friendly service attending to every detail. Complete with a hot Continental Breakfast prepared by Fred, the owner, reminiscent of our stays at much smaller B&Bs. Sounds of the water and ducks are a big part of the visit.... More

Cozy, laid back historic building perfect for a get away with someone special. We definitely are looking for chance to return ! The Inn has with beautiful views to the river, friendly staff willing to help with suggestions for local attractions. The rooms are clean, comfortable. Ask the kitchen staff to pack a picnic lunch - we had the Old... More

My daughter and I were leaving for a backpacking trip and needed a place to stay for the night. What a fabulous place! Spacious rooms with great views at a reasonable price which included a decent continental breakfast. Dinner was fabulous--including the beer. The proprietor was extremely friendly and showed us all the historic parts of the hotel---what a great... More

Spent the evening at the Inn and were quite impressed with the surroundings and helpfulness of the staff. The grounds are well maintained and the view of the mill pond and waterfall is very relaxing. I love to hear "we've upgraded your room" when I go to check in. We had a larger room and stretched out comfortably. It was... More
