This was our second year in a row to stay at the Dancing Bear while riding the Virginia Creeper Trail. The rooms are super clean and Melissa and Shannon are fantastic hosts. The breakfast couldn't be better. Hopefully, I will have the opportunity to stay again! I definitely recommend it.

We were more than pleased to find this terrific Old Mill Inn on the Appalachian Trail. Large, period rooms, great on-site restaurant, friendly service attending to every detail. Complete with a hot Continental Breakfast prepared by Fred, the owner, reminiscent of our stays at much smaller B&Bs. Sounds of the water and ducks are a big part of the visit.... More

Cozy, laid back historic building perfect for a get away with someone special. We definitely are looking for chance to return ! The Inn has with beautiful views to the river, friendly staff willing to help with suggestions for local attractions. The rooms are clean, comfortable. Ask the kitchen staff to pack a picnic lunch - we had the Old... More

My daughter and I were leaving for a backpacking trip and needed a place to stay for the night. What a fabulous place! Spacious rooms with great views at a reasonable price which included a decent continental breakfast. Dinner was fabulous--including the beer. The proprietor was extremely friendly and showed us all the historic parts of the hotel---what a great... More

Spent the evening at the Inn and were quite impressed with the surroundings and helpfulness of the staff. The grounds are well maintained and the view of the mill pond and waterfall is very relaxing. I love to hear "we've upgraded your room" when I go to check in. We had a larger room and stretched out comfortably. It was... More

We loved it and I don't know what we would have done without such an accommodating staff. One of our grandchildren has dairy allergies and they managed to feed him wonderful meals. We also had great meals, loved the view and had a grand time cycling the VA Creeper. We highly recommend the Inn.

The Old Mill quickly went from being a 'stop off' between KY and VA, to a destination. From the front desk staff to the restaurant staff, we received nothing but friendly conversation, relaxed and willing explanation of local history and history of the Inn. Our room, which had an overlook of the waterfall (the mill's 'machine') was beautiful - appointed... More

The room was so nice and spacious. The furnishings were real antiques. What a special place. The view from our balcony of the waterfall and lake was like a Ansel Adams print. We fished below the falls just a stones throw from our room. After a quick shower it was a wonderful evening at the Barter Theater. We are now... More

Great staff from morning through the night. Smiling faces eager to assist. Live band was phenomenal, especially Wise Old River. Food was better than some of the nearby restaurants which were pretty close as well. My friends and I are planning on coming back.

The Old Mill is not on the main drag in Damascus, but about a block from main street which makes this place very quite but perfectly within walking distance of everything in Damascus. One of the owners, Stuart, is a really kind and helpful person and I enjoyed dealing with him. The Old Mill also has a pretty amazing breakfast... More
