I stopped there 2 days during a tour of Virginia this summer. I looked for something different from the standard types of motels/hotels you find everywhere. And I found here what I looked for. Deliciously oldish style, but nevertheless nice rooms. You could take a chair and seat outside your door, or go to wooden tables a bit further under... More

This was our first stay at this motel and had a pleasant surprise with our stay. First off, Chris the owner of the motel was very nice and easy to talk to. The motels exterior is well taken care of and the grounds were very clean and well take care of. We stayed in the efficiency room which had a... More

Great value, off-season getaway. Freshly updated, clean efficiencies. Located off the main drag to the beach, Maddox Blvd., this motel is in a more peaceful location and is walking distance to Main Street where Sugarbakers is a must for a morning pastry. Stayed here twice and will be back.

The Sea Shell Motel is a family owned motel with the expected decades-old decor and other unexpected delights. The staff is very friendly, everything is super clean and there are plenty of extras including a good-size pool and a lush lawn with picnic tables, a grill and plenty of space for games and children to play. We had a standard... More

We were coming to Chincoteague for a family reunion and The Sea Shell Motel was an obvious place to stay. We were unable to get rooms at the main facility, but rented two of Chris' Cottages. We were so glad we did. The cottages were clean and well supplied, each with a back deck and a large backyard with grill... More

SeaShell has a hotel and several cottages and houses to rent. While there are places on the island that are newer, I doubt there's any that are cleaner, and I'm sure there's none that match the hospitality of SeaShell. While all hotels will call you "guests", when you're staying at SeaShell you will truly be treated like one. The owners... More

This place is amazing. The service and the friendliness alone is worth staying here. We have been coming to Chincoteague for over 30 years and we will stay no where else other than the Sea Shell. The location is great and really quiet.

recently stayed here with my mom and son. when we arrived there was a slight snafu with our reservation that was quickly and generously resolved. Our room was super clean with a place to cook (awesome). We immediately did some horse shoe playing and on one occassion enjoyed the awesome outdoor cooking area for some morning omelets. Very friendly staff... More

This was our first trip to Chincoteague and was a spur of the minute decision so we didn't have reservations. We went for a bite to eat upon arriving and The Sea Shell Motel is what our waitress recommended. It was great. It's a block off Main Street in a residential area. It's 1/2 block to a local grocery store... More
