I have been coming to Maddox Campground for over 20 years. My kids grew up camping here. They learned respect of others, how to entertain themselves. It has always been a great family campground. It's upsetting to read reviews from people who should clearly have stayed in a hotel or maybe not come on a holiday weekend and expected no... More

Staff in office and store were very friendly and helpful. The site was fine, though limited in size as there were a couple of tree stumps in the middle of the site. It was big enough for our tent. The pool is only open from 11-7. I've never seen a pool with such limited hours, considering that the sun doesn't... More

Good evening, I would like to take the time to respond to your review and allow you to know that the owner, employees, and staff are aware of your experience. First of all, my apologizes for the noise and negative experience of your stay. My name is Fallon, my grandparents are part-owners of the independently run campground and during the... More

My friends and I come every year for a camping trip. This place is super fun, the beach is a 2 min drive away, the staff is friendly, the premises are clean, and they are very chill. We have never had a problem staying on these grounds. You can just do your thing and no one bothers you! Every year... More

Arrived during a monsoon rain storm, lots of flooding. However the staff was more then accommodating during our arrival. Checked in and had no issue parking on our assigned site. As anyone who has stayed at Chincoteague knows it can be buggy, but right after a rain storm they swarmed; so setup was done as quickly as possible. There is... More

What a wonderful campground! The Maddox is a great place to go if you're into camping. The service, the staff, and the grounds are terrific. We stayed in June of 2013 for our daughter's birthday. Great sites. The staff was very accommodating. I am on dialysis and they allowed us to have our supplies shipped to them and then stored them... More

Kind of old and a bit run down but the bathrooms are clean. Lots of trees and large play areas for kids. We were there out of season and it was very quiet. The first site we were given was not suitable as it only had old 20 amp hookups. However, the lady at the desk was very friendly about... More

We've been to Chincoteague Island at least a dozen times in the last 30 years and have stayed at Maddox campground 9 times. Not a fancy place at all but most of the sites are shaded and they do try and keep it clean. Several times a day they pass through picking up garbage so the seagulls don't get into... More

I have been associated with Maddox Family Campground for over 35 years. My family and the children in my family (now their children) have the wonderful opportunities to spend time there. It is a clean, safe, and a very family orientented campground. The owners have had the good fortune to hire responsible personnel. They maintain a well organized family business.... More

I had a wonderful camping experience until 11 PM 7/26/2013. There was a group of males and a female anywhere from ages 17 - 25 in a campsite adjacent to ours who were having fun and laughing very loud, which was fine. At midnight things turned ugly. The group started fighting and one of the group was taking a sudden... More

We have stayed here 3 times. Their location is perfect if you want easy access to Assateague Island Refuge, the Assateague Beach and the Atlantic Ocean. The first time in the 1990's, we tented. The past two times we have used our pop-up camper and had a site near the main office. Although there aren't many trees there, it is... More
