When you go to a restaurant that is listed with Relais & Chateaux and when you pay above $160/per person, you expect a few things and at least to get a better service and a better food than any road side place. Service was bellow minimum, unable to find who had what, unable to pour wine properly, food was mediocre,... More

We had my daughter's surprise bridal shower at The Clifton Inn this Sunday. It was a complete success! The food and service is amazing. Thanks to Chelsea who helped with the surprise part. Francois is a perfect gentleman. It's the staff that makes it the treasure it is. I look forward to the wedding next month when we can enjoy... More

My wife and I were married at the Clifton this fall and stayed two nights with our family. We saw several of the rooms in slept in two of them (including the honeymoon cottage). The cottage was a huge step up from the Keswick suite we stayed in the night before. The bed in the Keswick was horrendous. I would... More

Thank you so much for your praise of our property and your repeat business. We were very concerned you had a bad experience with the bed in Keswick because most of our guests compliment us on the comfort of our beds but we take your feedback very seriously and we took some actions to make sure the bed is up... My husband and I got married at the Clifton Inn in June 2014. We visited Clifton this past weekend and had such a great time. We stayed in the Shadwell suite that had adorable and charming features. We enjoyed reading and sipping our complimentary Madeira wine in the sun filled sitting space. It was a little chilly, but we also... More

We have been coming to Charlottesville for many years. This was our first visit to the Clifton Inn. The women who greeted us were very nice and helpful. We reserved the Thomas Jefferson Suite which is in the main building. It was a nice size room, comfortable king bed and very nice shower. I'm hearing impaired and the TV had... More

Thank you very much for praising our chef. All of our guests are so pleased with the dining experience our culinary team is creating. I was very disappointed to hear about the miscommunication about your package and we hope to make up for that error with a complimentary full breakfast for your next visit. We certainly have our staff on... More

We have gone to Clifton three times so far - once for a romantic getaway and twice with the kids. Beautiful property with a charming scruffiness when compared to many other Relais-et-Chateaux properties. The service is the best of American informal. We love it especially for the chef's table. We stayed in the Collina Farm House, which is great for... More

We are spoiled travellers with high expectations. The Clifton Inn was fabulous! The Inn is lovely, the menu is sophisticated and delicious, and the staff was warm and expert. If only it were some place I needed to go! We stayed at the Inn as part of a visit to the area and especially to see Monticello (a short drive... More

We have visited four times to the Clifton Inn over the last six years. I have enjoyed all visits immensely. This time we were in the Honeymoon Suite which is a free standing building. It was very lovely to look at inside and out. Just around the corner of the Inn. I really liked the bathroom with old fashioned tub... More

The Clifton Inn is a gorgeous property with thoughtfully decorated and well-appointed rooms, as well as a joie de vivre that is very hard for smaller hotels to achieve. I am so in love with the charm and elegant chicness of this property. Each room has a decanter of Madeira, an ode to the Colonial traditions of the Albemarle area.... More

We returned to the Clifton Inn for two nights before Thanksgiving, and it felt like going to visit some friends in their very comfortable, cozy home. We stayed in the Thomas Mann Randolph suite, and it was a very spacious, quiet, clean room with a comfortable bed and a large bathroom. The entire staff was very professional, helpful and friendly,... More
