We are so happy we chose to have our June 7 wedding at the Clifton Inn. The venue was beautiful and the service was first class through and through. We chose to rent the entire property (17 rooms) so that we would have exclusive use of the inn and its grounds from Friday night through Sunday morning. This allowed us... More

Beautiful inn, beautiful grounds, amazing gardens. We drove in and were so impressed by the genteel grandeur! We were warmly welcomed with a brief tour of the main house and available amenities, then shown to our room in an outside building, a converted barn by the looks of it. So rustic and cute! Unpacked a bit then went to the... More

My wife and I rented this property for our wedding. Here is the run down, I cannot say enough about the property, staff, coordinator, and setting. Rooms – this was the third time I have stayed here and have had pretty much the same experience each time. The rooms are high end and all amenities are excellent. The beds and... More

You read the reviews, check web sites, and research the area to find the hotel, B & B , or historic inn that meets your expectations. The Clifton Inn seemed to do all that, but something was just not right. We were upgraded to a suite upon arrival which was small, but very nice. Our main concern was dining. The... More

So close to Monticello and a five minute drive to the famous Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah valley, this beautiful house and stables/cottages were a delight. The restaurant served great food and wine, but also came up with a delicious light snack when we were overwhelmed by American food! The staff were super friendly, engaged and knowledgeable, and the gardens... More

We stayed at Clifton inn while visiting Charlottesville. The hotel grounds are beautiful. Birds can be heard singing while sitting on comfortable verandas. The room was large delightfully decorated, bed unbelievably comfortable. Service was smooth & efficient. Excellent advice for touring. Dining was first class we were sad to leave.

For second year in a row servers in dining room did not know how to serve and clear. For an upscale restaurant this should not happen. We could hear someone snoring in the next room overnight ! For a property that should get an above average rating, it needs to improve.

We recently celebrated our 30th anniversary at the Clifton and the staff could not have been nicer. We were welcomed to our beautiful room with fresh fruit and a card, had afternoon tea with fresh baked scones, then took a stroll down to the private lake. Enjoyed an excellent dinner with the best fresh roasted asparagus I have ever eaten... More

Absolutely delighted that Pam that Pam appreciated the cozy room, great staff, the grounds with the private lake, the wonderful views and the best dinner she has ever had amongst other things. Unfortunately, we cannot take credit for the sunset, but we can certainly pretend tat we organized this. We hope that Pam will return in the near future. Niall... More

My husband and I stayed at Clifton Inn as part of our 1st anniversary trip. We like to try Relais & Chateaux restaurants and hotels. We were not disappointed. We were upgraded to the Honeymoon Cottage. It was very quaint. The bed was SO comfortable! The inn and the grounds are absolutely lovely. The lawn/back patio is the perfect area... More

Wonderful setting and small facility but lacked the luxuriousness I associate with Relais & Chateaux properties like the Inn at Little Washington. Cumbersome size suite, no TV in the bedroom, a waiter who never check water-level during the meal. I was hoping for an over the top experience and did not have one. Fine dinner menu - kudos to the... Thank you for commenting so positively on our fine dinner menu, our wonderful setting and the intimacy of our facility.
