My husband and I got married at the Clifton Inn in June 2014. We visited Clifton this past weekend and had such a great time. We stayed in the Shadwell suite that had adorable and charming features. We enjoyed reading and sipping our complimentary Madeira wine in the sun filled sitting space. It was a little chilly, but we also... More

We have been coming to Charlottesville for many years. This was our first visit to the Clifton Inn. The women who greeted us were very nice and helpful. We reserved the Thomas Jefferson Suite which is in the main building. It was a nice size room, comfortable king bed and very nice shower. I'm hearing impaired and the TV had... More

We have gone to Clifton three times so far - once for a romantic getaway and twice with the kids. Beautiful property with a charming scruffiness when compared to many other Relais-et-Chateaux properties. The service is the best of American informal. We love it especially for the chef's table. We stayed in the Collina Farm House, which is great for... More

We are spoiled travellers with high expectations. The Clifton Inn was fabulous! The Inn is lovely, the menu is sophisticated and delicious, and the staff was warm and expert. If only it were some place I needed to go! We stayed at the Inn as part of a visit to the area and especially to see Monticello (a short drive... More

We have visited four times to the Clifton Inn over the last six years. I have enjoyed all visits immensely. This time we were in the Honeymoon Suite which is a free standing building. It was very lovely to look at inside and out. Just around the corner of the Inn. I really liked the bathroom with old fashioned tub... More

The Clifton Inn is a gorgeous property with thoughtfully decorated and well-appointed rooms, as well as a joie de vivre that is very hard for smaller hotels to achieve. I am so in love with the charm and elegant chicness of this property. Each room has a decanter of Madeira, an ode to the Colonial traditions of the Albemarle area.... More

We returned to the Clifton Inn for two nights before Thanksgiving, and it felt like going to visit some friends in their very comfortable, cozy home. We stayed in the Thomas Mann Randolph suite, and it was a very spacious, quiet, clean room with a comfortable bed and a large bathroom. The entire staff was very professional, helpful and friendly,... More

I have had the pleasure of experiencing a few of the hotels and inns that designate themselves part of Relais & Chateau. I perhaps think The Clifton needs to revisit their partnership after my most recent visit. I stayed in The Shadwell suite, queen bed with sitting room. I thinks it's best to break it down by pros and cons.... More

I was travelling with my 13 year old son on a tour of the Civil War battlefields and we stayed at the Clifton Inn for one night as we travelled south. It was further away from our planned route than it looked on the map but it was well worth the drive. We had a lovely room (the Honeymoon Cottage)... More

The accommodation, surrounds and general feel of this Inn are wonderful. we were there at the peak of fall so the trees were in wonderful plumage. We didnt eat at the hotel except for breakfast as we were not interested in a degustation style menu - too long on the road and craving "simple food". Our only really negative comment... More
