Everything was great except the bed I had in the bunk house was ready for retirement. Other beds seemed okay. Very friendly administration, clean and quiet location. As mentioned by others, a little ways from downtown but fairly easy to get around! Will stay here again if I go back to that area!

I really enjoyed my one night stay here and I recommend this place. It’s a very good place to stay especially for groups. The house is big with all the necessary amenities including laundry. The bunk house is also good. Please keep in view the following things before you book:- 1. There is no microwave, oven or pop up toaster... More

I wouldn't recommend this if you don't have a car, but chances are you probably do. It's a very nice location, the house is lovely and the owner very friendly. There is parking right there and a few restaurants down the street, so you don't need your car for dinner and such. It's not a long drive downtown by any... More

I slept here better than in any of the plastic hotels I have frequented on this "tour". The only down side is having to phone with arrival time as the proprietors take turns to manage the place. Otherwise the property is maticulously maintained with the personality of well maintained town house . You help yourself to breakfast things. The bathroom... More

We stayed 2 nights in May 2013 and found the staff to be enthusiastic and friendly and the rooms (we stayed in the main house) to be excellent. An available computer and tons of reading material and games were great too. This accommodation is more hostel than B&B with just some basic breakfast food provided, but the bedrooms in the... More

Just stayed three nights at Alexandar House with my husband and two kids. We stayed in the Vinegar Hill Room which had a double bed, a single bed and a roll-a-way. It was clean, affordable, and friendly place. The bathroom is shared, which wasn't a problem as there was only one other guest in the house while we stayed (there... More

Thanks so much! We are a unique place, which doesn't work for everyone, so it's very gratifying when our guests really enjoy and appreciate what we have to offer. More

Using Trip Advisor, I did find the Alexander House Inn, but even with GPS, you need to look closely as it is on a residential street and looks like many of the houses near it. I mistimed by arrival by an hour or so. This wouldn't bother many other hostels/inns, but as the proprietors take turns managing the place and... More

Thanks for the feedback. We try to let people know that they ONLY need to call a half an hour ahead of time, so the host has time to get over there before the guest arrives, but clearly this doesn't always come across clearly. And it's true, we aren't the most conspicuous establishment ;0) We're working on getting a small... More

I stayed just for one night, but wished I could have stayed longer. I felt so at home. Nice room, beautiful setting. Very eco-friendly too. All organic food from local producers. I would definitely stay there again.

Thank you so much! We're glad you had such a good stay, and we hope to see you again! I want to correct one thing - we DO shop only at locally-owned stores, and we DO emphasize local products. We buy as much organic as we can find, however, not all of our food is organic. We do have a... More

My friend and I both enjoyed and greatly appreciated our recent stay at the Alexander House. It has a calm and beautiful ambience --something hard to find when you add very comfortable as well. We felt so at home and safe and the people we met were so nice and interesting that I freely call this place a gem. Not... More

Thank you! We pride ourselves in creating a safe, calm place to stay. And we're very fortunate to attract interesting, caring people. The social community seems to form most nights, and people really like the opportunity to meet and get to know fellow travelers. I often end up staying much longer than anticipated, caught up in conversations with people from... More
