Alexander House was by far the friendliest place I stayed at so far. You could tell that Brad, who runs the place, really cares about this place and goes out of his way to make the guests feel welcome. Better than expected private hostel in Charlottesville in convenient central location. Walking distance to cool historic downtown, grocery, handy to Monticello, short miles to University of Virginia. The Alexander House is a perfect combination of small country inn and inexpensive hostel. Located, just 5 blocks from the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville, the Alexander House has a great location in the historic Belmont neighborhood. The property manager, Brad, couldn't have been more helpful. They have a variety of room options for all needs. I would definately stay here... more
