We love the way the staff at Dinsmore thought of the little things. A welcoming glass of wine, complimentary DVDs, an anniversary card on the mantle, fresh flowers on coffee table and a "dream machine" on the nightstand. Our stay at The Dinsmore Inn was excellent. We have stayed in many Bed and Breakfast establishments in Virginia and this is by far, the best place we have visited. When we were looking for a place to stay in Charlottesville, we looked at the Dinsmore House website and were impressed. Impressions on arrival were not so good however as we were disappointed to find that the inn sits on a busy main road and it’s a reasonable mile walk into town. Dinsmore House has some good things going for it - it's quite attractively decorated and with comfy beds but it could do with some refurbishment - nothing that some serious maintenance and redecoration could put right. From our arrival to our departure, everything was in order and as advertised at the Dinsmore house! The bedding was fabulous, the location was perfect for a nice stroll down to the pedestrian mall, and the breakfast was delicious. The inn was built by a friend of Thomas Jefferson. Our room was large, lovely and very comfortable. The owners are helpful and pleasant. Some exceptional restaurants are within easy walking distance. more
