This is a beautiful historic B & B in a convenient location. Our room (Dinsmore Room) was spacious, high ceilings, large and comfortable amenities. The innkeepers were hospitable, friendly and courteous. Breakfast is great, so are those late night cookies! I highly recommend Dinsmore to any visitor to Charlottesville. One critique is that the landscaping could use a facelift.

Just returned from 2 nights at Dinsmore House. We found the resident inn keepers Bill and Shari to be excellent hosts with lots of recommendations of things to do and near by restaurants. As dog lovers, we truly enjoyed the opportunity to play with their adorable dog Ellie, who is a sweet and mellow addition to the B&B. The home... More

Spent a weekend here with 5 other couples to celebrate my 40th birthday. This is a very historical B&B and an absolutely beautiful place. It is conveniently located to UVA and all kinds of restaurants and bars. The resident managers Bill and Sherry greeted us warmly and gave us the history of the B&B and suggested some of their favorite... More

Sadly, I cannot give a proper review as it was impossible to book from the start. I had decided to go out of our way to Charlottesville, in order to stay at The Dinsmore for my daughter's sixteenth birthday. After three attempts to contact the owner, who initially said that we could stay for one night on the weekend, we... More

We stayed one night at the Dinsmore and will put it on our list to come back. Great location right on Main street. It is very close to the road so I was concerned traffic noise might be a problem but in our room (the James Monroe room) it was not a problem. The speed limit is fairly low and... More

Spent one lovely night here on the road to Connecticut. This quaint facility was built in 1815 by Thomas Jefferson's master carpenter. We stayed in the annex on the ground floor fronting on West Main Street. Bill and Sherry, the resident managers, greeted us warmly with wine and cheese. We took the free trolley down to the pedestrian tourist area,... More

Directly across from the campus for the "house" (that is university) that Thomas Jefferson built, is the house that his master carpenter, James Dinsmore, built for himself. It's now a wonderful bed and breakfast, featuring cozy, comfy beds in finely appointed rooms, and plush towels in the bathrooms. The innkeepers and their staff are all warm, friendly and helpful, ready... More

We just spent two nights at the Dinsmore House. The new innkeepers Bill and Sherry were so pleasant! For being at the property for less than 2 months, they were very knowledgeable about the area. Besides the historic nature of the inn and its convenience to everything, it was the little things that really made us feel at home. We... More

I am a UVA Medical School alumnus and Visiting Professor, so travel to Charlottesville relatively often--the building is right across from the Medical Center and the new Children's Hospital. Unless I have a commitment somewhere else. Dinsmore House is my preferred place. The building is old (1819) but that adds to its charm. Bathrooms and appointments are modern. Mark and... More

My wife and I have stayed here several time over the past four years and have had a great experience each time. The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially the current innkeepers, Mark and Mary, who go out of their way to make us feel welcome and at home. The breakfast is quite good and we really enjoy the... More
