I stayed at the Cavalier Inn for 2 nights and found it to be a perfectly fine place to stay - very convenient, with a spacious and clean room with basic amenities and a small, older bathroom. Who cares if the bathroom is all shiny? Not me - I'd rather save the money. The staff are excellent - extremely helpful... More

The good: actually, the staff is better than good. They are super friendly, helpful, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Our room was clean and the breakfast area was tidy and fully stocked. The bad: despite the "Newly Renovated September 2014" announcement on the hotels main webpage, there is still work to be done. Rooms are definitely not 4 star, and the exterior... More

There is a reason this hotel is inexpensive and has plenty of availability. It's walls are paper thin. Staff is bored and unmotivated. But the free breakfast is good. Bottom line....you can do better.

First off, this is a party hotel. There was an event the night we stayed and loud music from the lobby-level party bled through the walls all the way up to the top floor where we stayed. When we complained about the noise, there was no apology, just that it "should" finish after 11pm. As far as the actual room,... More

Can't say enough about the location. Easy 1/2 mile stroll to venue. Good price and great mattress. Appreciated the microwave and fridge for pregaming. Free breakfast. This was not well stocked and the lay out was confusing. Not nearly as good as a Hampton Inn. Our room door was broken so we had to slam it several times to get... More

I've stayed here a couple of times for events at UVA's Alumni Hall and both times the price was a good value (free breakfast, wi-fi) and the location was very convenient. In fact you can bet that for big weekends (reunions, football games, etc.) the Cavalier Inn will always be sold out. The place has had some renovation work done... More

Very convenient to University of Virgina and Monticello. My room was 2 doubles with refrigerator, microwave & coffee maker. Nice, clean room. Breakfast included scrambled eggs, breakfast meat (was empty when I went to the bar & I didn't want any, so didn't go back to see what it was), pancakes, make-your-own waffles, bagels, muffins, toast (including raisin), cold cereals,... Hotel is nice and clean, although on a small side. Free hot breakfast in a downstairs dining area - small, but enough for all. Can't beat the price, especially pre-paid in advance. Room was comfortable and quiet, big enough for 4 people - although I would definitely recommend to dine out, no room inside. For dinner/lunch, we recommend "Mellow Mushroom"... More

This hotel is a high value. Because it is older, the plumbing is temperamental. Suck it up. The negative comments come from travelers who have never been to Europe. My wife & I are on our fourth passports (forty years of overseas travel). Real travelers look for a clean room (our room was spotless). The comp breakfast is excellent. Location... More

We had a room on the west side which gave us a nice view away from traffic. Each afternoon there was a rain storm and we opened the door of our room onto the balcony, watched the rain and listened to the birds. It was very nice. Workout room has all the basics and good machines. The staff was friendly... More
