The last independent hotel in c'ville, they say. We loved our stay, special shout out to Stacey and Lloyd, who made the best breakfasts ever. Say goodbye to continental breakfasts, hello to homemade pancakes and French toast.

I have been coming to UVA Health System for a long time. This is by far the most accommodating and friendly place in all of C'ville. The new renovations have been much needed and have only added to the excellence. The staff is so helpful, and if they don't know they will find out for you. Breakfast is also an... More

We stayed here one evening as my daughter had a tour of UVA and we were going to Monticello. Got a room with 2 queens for 100 bucks with AAA rate. Room was clean and I enjoyed actually being able to swim laps in the pool. The hotel is dated. Breakfast was o.k. Beds kinda comfy. Very quiet at night.... More

We spent four nights at The English Inn and it exceeded our expectations. Very clean room and bathroom and a comfortable bed. The front desk was very friendly and helpful and quickly responded to our few requests. The complimentary breakfast is on par with the best (Embassy Suites, etc.). The hotel might be showing it's age, but maintenance is adequate... More

I do a lot of travel, and muat say The English Inn in Charlottesville is one of best hotels I frequent. I have stayed many times and always have a fantastic experience. All factors such as location, service, cleanliness of the rooms and staff are amazing. The luxary suites are like small apartments with a nice quiet courtyard in the... More

Our stay at the English Inn was a very pleasant experience. The desk clerk, Kirsten, was most helpful at every turn and her pleasant and friendly attitude was a pleasure to deal with. The room was very clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast buffet was full of delicious choices for a morning meal.

We stayed here two nights in July. The hotel is clean, quiet, comfortable. The bed was good. The breakfast was good, except that the self-serve line was rather crowded and slow. I appreciated that the halls and elevators were not musty and raggedy as in so many other hotels of this class. Check-in was all correct, efficient and friendly. All... More

We chose this hotel for a family reunion. It is an older hotel with a little cosmetic wear. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The heating/ac unit is an older model so don't expect to punch in the exact temperature you want. It kept the room comfortable though. The full breakfast was fantastic but no waffle maker. The... At arrival you might think it is still Christmas. The rooms are nice. We got an upgrade. The room was located at the front of the hotel. Because we did not want to put on the airconditioning, we left the window open. All night long there was music from the front entrance. That was a little irritating. Breakfast was simple.

We spent one night here and found it conveniently located for touring Monticello and UVA. The property is older, and it feels it. We had a second floor room, and the toilet was not anchored to the floor. The bathrooms have the old, loud, churning fans in them, and the room was just average, although it did have a refrigerator... More
