We selected the English Inn after reading the reviews. The two things that sealed the deal for us was (1) they have a sauna and indoor pool (we love saunas) and (2) a great Internet rate. This hotel is pretty much sold out most of the time, so we were happy we made our reservations 3 weeks before our arrival.... more

Our recent stay at the English Inn of Charlottesville was so wonderful that I had to sign up here (at the suggestion of my friend who was already a member) and provide my feedback. My wife and I and four children typically visit Charlottesville once or twice a year to see family and friends. We have stayed at many hotels... more

First, the good part: nice (but not exceptional) rooms with large beds. The pool was much bigger than expected and looked very nice, although we didn't have a chance to use it. The lobby was lovely. Now, the not-so-good: their management needs some serious lessons in customer service and in managing a hotel. We arrived at 11 AM on a... more

I was aware of The English Inn after searching AAA, Orbitz and other sites but was unsure of date of arrival. Saw an ad for a discount rate in ROOMSAVERS magazine available at most rest areas on the interstates . The Inn honored the coupon without any hastle and gave us a great king room. Room was large, very clean... more

The rooms were spacious and clean. The swimming pool and exercise room were exactly what we were looking for. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return if we are ever back in the area. more

Whenever I stay in Charlottesville, I always try to book the English Inn. The warm cozy atmosphere (with a fireplace in the lobby) and the friendly staff are the main attractions to this property. Of course, the full breakfast and the other ammenities such as the indoor pool and fitness room are icing on the cake. more

We chose the English Inn for a Presidents Day weekend getaway based on the positive reviews here and were not disappointed. No, it's not an authentic English inn. What it is is a very good, decently priced motel. Our room (we had a king suite) was very clean and very quiet (despite the fact that the hotel seemed to be... more

My wife and I were looking for a decent place for and overnight that had clean, odor-free accomodations. I am undergoing cancer treatment, and I am extremely sensitive to all odors, allergic to some. We not only found the English Inn to be very low-odor, but it was entirely non-smoking (hurray, some folks finally are understanding the problem). Unlike many... more

Our 3 night stay at the English Inn was fantastic! It is only a couple of miles from the Uunversity of Virginia campus (which we were visiting on business) and within walking distance of several local family-friendly places to est. We could not have been happier! The decor was quaint and inviting, the rooms were extremely quiet and comfortable, and... more

This property has not been remodeled since they built it decades ago. 70's? The rooms are dated, dark and somewhat musty. In fact the entire property has a very depressing atmosphere...it gives authentic English inns a rather bad name. Front desk staff were indifferent and refused to allow me to check in early even though a room was in fact... more
