We stayed at Piney Grove for a great Valentine's weekend. The guest house is separate from the other buildings on the property. While the house is not original to the property, it does reflect the historic nature of the area. If you like old houses you will love this one. No ghosts. The room was large. No TV or electronics... We recently stayed here for a Valentines get-a-way to the Williamsburg area. We have always stayed in downtown Williamsburg before, but wanted to try something different and found this historic inn. It is located outside of Williamsburg in the plantation area so it was convenient for touring Shirley ad Berkeley plantations. Nearby were several great restaurants, so you don't even... More

When my husband and i arrived, we immdiatley noticed the dank ,musty smell of moll in the room. The toilet looked dirty. The furniture was dusty and when you turn the faucet on, the water smelled of sulfer. The windows wouldn't stay open so we could air out the room so we left. There isnt any place close to eat... We love staying at this restful B&B every winter! Piney Grove is a beautiful retreat located half-way between Williamsburg and Richmond. When you drive up, you see three historic houses around the Piney Grove property plus a few smaller outbuildings. One building is just for the guests’ accommodations - the Gordineer family lives in the other two homes. Cozy guest... More

We wanted to stay at a plantation while visiting Williamsburg and found this wonderful little inn. Piney Grove at Southall's Plantation is a family operation with just a handful of guest rooms, but the family offers all the hospitality and history you could want. This is not a grand plantation with columns like Gone with the Wind, but rather a... More

We love staying at this B&B. Our son and daughter-in-law recommended Piney Grove, and we have stayed 3 times. The location is great - close to Richmond, Williamsburg, and James River plantations. Large rooms with good books, wood fire, and easy chair. We finally got to spend a weekend at piney grove during one of the dinner-tours. Since it was... More

If you love historic places, Piney Grove is a great place to stay. Our recent trip to Virginia was one to explore civil war battlefields and museums. We thought it would be fun to stay in a real plantation home. The owner, Joan Gordineer, was an excellent host. She greeted us with mint juleps or apple cider and sat down... More

This bed and breakfast is just what we wanted on our visit to Virginia. The place includes a collection of historic buildings that are like a little country village from another time. It's like staying at a museum. Our host Joan was the owner and welcomed us with warm toddies. Our room was spacious and comfortably furnished with antiques, old... More

My husband and I were very excited to visit this B&B. Their webpage mentions all of the wonderful activities, the historic houses, and a pool! We were also expecting it to be convenient to Williamsburg, as their literature implies. We spent the day in the 'Burg, then headed over to the inn. We got further and further from Williamsburg, and... More

Piney Grove is a great B&B. Not that far from Williamsburg, if you want to get away and not stay inside the hubbub of the tourist area. The rooms are in a separate house, down the driveway from the main house. We had one of the large bedrooms in the lower level. The bathroom is in between the two large... More
