We stayed for 3 nights. We were welcomed and made to feel comfortable and at ease. The entire house is elegant and easy to love. We enjoyed the Rose Room and our relatives, the Magnolia Room. The beds were very comfortable and the room had the amenities one would expect. The 2 porches were easily accessible and beckoned one to... More

We stayed here for one night in April. The house is amazing. Ridgely is a lovely gentle lady. We enjoyed having a late night drink on our private porch. The breakfast table was a sight to behold with old silver and china but the breakfast itself was HUGELY disappointing. For the price per night a good breakfast should be served.... More

My husband and I attended a wedding in the area and stayed at North Bend Plantation. What a beautiful place! The house is comfortable, and full of history and antuques. The owner, Ridgely, was delightful, charming and interesting. We also had the opportunity to float in her salt pool, which we loved. I wish we would have had more time... More

Lovingly restored plantation house, beatifully located on the North Bend locality of the James River, in a peaceful farmland setting, far from the madding crowds. The plantation is (and feels like) a home, which has been in the family for generations and is furnished with antiques that are largely family heirlooms. It is full of history but the atmosphere is... More

My wife and I spent one night at North Bend Plantation. It was memorable. We arrived around 4 pm and were greeted at the door by the proprietor, Ridgely Copland and her dog, Rudy. She immediately made us feel welcomed, providing an impromptu tour of the home and its many antiques and curiosities. Many of the antiques have stories, such... More

We stayed at North Bend for a couple nights just before Thanksgiving. We arrived after dark after successfully navigating the Virginia countryside and the long gravel driveway. We were greeted by the owner, Ridgely Copeland, who immediately treated us more like family members than lodgers. The plantation house is full of antiques and history in general and she delighted in... More

Having no particular plan in place we booked an evening at our new friend Ridely Copeland's home. Didn't realize at the time that we would enjoy ourselves so much we ended up staying another night and wishing we could have stayed longer. Rooms are large and filled with history. Edmund Ruffin's bed, a desk used by General Sheridan. The area... More

My wife and I planned on staying one night and had such a warm experience that we decided to stay another night. Mrs. Copland is the most professional and gracious host and does a great job maintaining the property and and atmosphere of comfort. It truly feels as though you are visiting family. The property is nestled in a rural... More

Love American history and antiques? Need a quiet getaway? North Bend fills the bill on all counts. Full of Southern hospitality, the owner is chatty, yet attentive to the needs of her guests. (She has, after all, lived in this house for over 50 years and knows every corner of it!) Set in rural Charles City, about 30 minutes from... More

My wife and I recently stayed at north bend plantation bed and breakfast on our visit to the williamsburg area. It was like a delightful trip back in time.the rooms and house furnishings all date back to the 1600/1700 period and our gentile host Ridgely Copland seemed to know the history of everything.Sumtuous breakfasts started each day and Ridgely as...
