I can't understand the negative reviews. We stayed here one night on our trip south. It is off season so very few guests. The restaurant was closed. The room was neat, clean and very quiet. The AC/heat unit was quiet. Staff was friendly and quickly provided a 4th pillow when requested. We enjoyed the short walk to be nearby beach.... more

Please do NOT stay here - I stayed here for a few days back in June and the hotel has been continuing to charge my credit card ($30 here, $60 there) through the fall for no apparant reason. I am escalating this with my credit card company as well as with the BBB. Accommodations are gross, beach is gross, staff... more

I suggest avoiding this hotel at all costs. From the rude management to the dirty rooms, this is not the place you want to stay. Also watch out for hidden charges and non-traditional hotel policies. (They charge you to cancel a reservation, no matter how far in advance you cancel.) The rooms leave a lot to be desired - mine... more

On our first trip to the Outer Banks (6 years ago) we decided to split up the ride. We chose to stay at the Sunset Beach Resort for one night and drive the other half of the 9 hour drive in the morning. At that time the resort was a Best Western. We never expected 5 stars and for the... more

We had stayed at this motel last year sometime late fall early winter and had a nice suite. We ate at the lobby bar and had a great dinner. We did not expect the beach bar & grill to be open so we weren't that disappointed. This year we stayed we called to make our reservation and were anxious to... more

My family holds the Annual Smith/Harrod Family Reunion at the Sunset Beach Resort. We always have a lot of fun there. From the bar on the beach to the picnic area where we cook out on the grill, the Sunset Beach resort has been one that we have chosen year after year. There is a lot of room for the... more

We were driving down the Delmarva and out to the Outer Banks and chose to drive without a fixed itinerary. As a result, we ended up at the Sunset Beach by chance, and had not researched it. It was adequate, barely. Broken lights over the bed meant only one lamp in the room worked. Everything was a bit grimy. Sheets... more

We traveled to the tip of the Delmarva to kayak, bike and bird. After looking into Cape Charles properties, we kept coming back to this hotel listing which seemed to fit our needs better than a b&b. I was nervous about the rooms based on the reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised. We stayed in room 135 which is a... more

First, this motel has lost it's Best Western certification and is now private. Our original plans were to stay at the Cape Charles Historic Hotel, but they were closed. We were already on the road when we spotted a nice advertisement for this so called Best Western Resort and got a room for two nights. The place is run down... more
