We visited the Inn on Thistle Hill for a weekend getaway from Washington DC. My husband booked the vacation as a surprise for my birthday. When he told me where we were going, I looked it up online and was kind of worried after reading some of the reviews. Turns out there was no need to worry - the weekend... More

I don't know what all these negative reviews are about... Stayed at thistle kill last weekend and very much enjoyed the experience! I didn't do it to be cool. I didn't do it to make a statement. I just liked it! There's a certain energy balance to the climate here, a taste in the air... of aluminum... ash... like you... More

Deep in the woods of Rappahannock County lies Carcosa. Look for the yellow sign and turn up the driveway and you will find yourself in the realm of the King in Yellow. The property looks abandoned and overgrown, but enter the main house and you will find the keepers of lost Carcosa. There is no cell phone service, no telephones... More

My fiance and I just had a nice weekend away with his parents at this B&B. To start, if you are looking for frills and fancy, look elsewhere. This is a country B&B with all the country charm and quirks that come with the country setting. Upon arrival we were greeted by both Frank and Seane. We were given a... More

Let me start off by stating that I have NOT stayed at this place. Why am I writing a review you might wonder? Because I booked a room here through Priceline, a site with a no cancellation policy - for my anniversary weekend with my wife. But after booking the room, receiving a confirmation from Priceline, etc. I received a... More

This is my third attempt at writing a review for this b&b. I never write reviews. Ever. This place was THAT good. When we arrived, Seane and Frank were expecting us and they greeted us before we could close the car door, much like worried family members (we traveled there after a snow storm). After friendly introductions were made, Seane... More

This is a special place for a quiet getaway with easy access to Shenandoah National Park and Virginia's wine country. Seane and Frank who run the place are beautiful human beings who put a lot of love and care into their interactions with guests. If you are a type A person looking for a manicured, fancy, and by-the-book B&B experience,... More

There is a mystic charm and sense of caring unparalleled to other places. I find it interesting that the people who made negative reviews never actually stayed to enjoy the charms of Thistle Hill. As a frequent business traveler who gets around a great deal, I've stayed at Thistle Hill repeatedly with other options available. Being on the edge of... More

We arrived mid-afternoon on a late November day to a very rundown, overgrown and unkept yard. The buildings were no better, and had weatherstripping hanging off doorways and windows, and the door was wide open to the cottage adjacent to the one we booked, the Azalea cottage, for no apparent reason. This place also had sheet plastic pinned to a... More

We love having guests and look forward to their arrival. Everything we add or remove is with your comfort and enjoyment in mind. Over the twelve years, many of our guests have become dear friends and return often. We’re so sorry that these guests decided to leave without sampling Chef’s wonderful breakfast, sleep in our comfortable beds or wander through... More

This place is misrepresented and the good reviews are bogus. I got there and was greeted by the very sweet witch from Hanzel and Gretil. The grounds of the Inn looked like White Trash lived there and the rooms weren't any better. I didn't stay 5 minutes and will contest any charges. Buyer Beware.
