I am a regular visitor to this hotel, and I remember this incident. I recall the problem was isolated to only a couple of rooms, and I was told by the Manager that they dealt with the problem right away. I also know that bedbugs are a relatively common problem in hotels, and are not generally harmful. They are carried... more

Great staff. Great breakfast. Great location if you plan to visit Virginia Tech. All the rooms are suites and have a mini-kitchen. more

I'm a frequent traveler and have stayed in many hotels. Never have I experienced a bigger nightmare than I did here. Stayed ONE night for business, awoke to hundreds of blistering sores all over my body. Doctor confirmed it was bedbugs. Had to throw away my nice Tumi luggage for fear it too was contaminated. Steam cleaned all my clothes.... more

The group block hotel for a local conference, it wasn't bad. I've stayed at something similar that had been turned into a Hyatt Suites and was so very cool. Where this hotel falls down, is on halfway done renovations (there was mildew in my tub), and cheap materials chosen for renovations. The bed was comfy enough, the TV was nice,... more

I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times now on business and the experience is the same. It's a decent but not fabulous hotel. The room I stayed in this time was again clean and quiet. It's a small suite set up with ample room for two people. Any more than that and it's a bit much. The... more

My teenage son and I stayed here to attend an open house at VT the next day. In all the traveling I have done, I've never encountered a "lost reservation" before. I had just driven 3 1/2 hours in the rain, and didn't need to hear that. Clearly Hawthorn Suites website has some issues transferring reservation information to the hotels,... more

I decided to stay here rather than the Holiday Inn based on the Tripadvisor reviews. The facility was clean, as where the rooms. The facility was quiet and the bed was excellent. The hot breakfast left a little to be desired but the breakfast area was clean and the food adequately stocked. My son will likely be attending Va. Tech,... more

The Hawthorn Suites is easy to get to and is a short drive to shopping and restaurants. Our room was good sized with a sofa, frig, microwave, bar sink and flat screen tv . The vanity is outside the bathroom which is nice if two people are sharing the room. The bed could have been a little more comfortable and... more

This hotel was only OK. It was clean and the bed was very comfortable, however, the shower did not work and the trash cans did not have liners-eww. The breakfast buffet was the biggest disappintment. Several of the items were depleted and the trash cans were overflowing. That being said, I realize that there are 2 sides to every story... more

Made a reservation over six months ago, called the morning of arrival to confirm reservation. Arrived at the hotel and given our room card with the room number written on the envelope. Went to the room and the card would not work after two tries. Then the door opens and a man is looking at us wondering why we're trying... more
