My fiance and I just returned from a brief (one-night) stay at the Smithfield Farm's cottage. We couldn't have asked for a nicer, more relaxing getaway from the stresses of planning our wedding. Ruth and her dogs greeted us immediately when we pulled into the driveway, and we were invited into the cottage and shown around. The cottage is amazing... More

My husband and I just spent a wonderful night at this lovely home for a special anniversary. Our king size room was very large and comfortable with obvious thought for all the comforts and needs when away from home. The bathroom with fireplace was almost as big as some rooms we have stayed in during our travels. The history of... More

We went to the farm for a little rest and relaxation. When we pulled into the long driveway we didn't know what to expect. Once we reached the babbling brook and saw the stately home, were all smiles. The owner, Ruth, welcomed us and made us feel like old family friends. Linda, baked homemade cookies and placed them in our... More

Private, peaceful setting, large well-appointed rooms, but most importantly-a gracious hostess...what a down-to-earth, inspiring and interesting person. Ruth and her family have quite successfully renovated this Federal style manor home to many of the comforts of modern day while preserving it's original charm and interest. The breakfasts were healthy, hearty and delicious. My husband and I stayed in the Randolph... More

In a word, Awesome. My husband and I have been buying pastas, soups and meats from this family for years at the Takoma Park Farmer's market. We decided our anniversary weekend would be a great time to go out and see the farm and stay at the B&B. Not only were we not disappointed, we were downright THRILLED! The Inn... More

My husband and I stayed in the summer cottege last weekend. Even though it was off-season, Ruth went out of her way to make sure we felt welcome. She kept the kitchen stocked with breakfast supplies from the farm, and brought us over homemade cookes and apple spice bread "just because." The cottege was spotless and so relaxing that we... Just 1.5 hrs away from D.C. an oasis of quiet and calm. Beautiful house, gracious host, great setting. I loved our room - Jacqueline. The bed was comfortable and the room was tastefully decorated. Having the fireplace was very great too during this time of the year. We enjoyed the walk around the farm, especially seeing happy cows and pigs.

We recently celebrated our 32nd anniversary at the lovely Smithfield Farm B and B. The room and bathroom were very spacious, immaculately clean, beautifully decorated and comfortable. Ruth and her staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and we so enjoyed getting to know the other guests during that leisurely time. Ruth recommended a nearby tavern for our... I recently stayed at the Smithfield Farm B&B for a short honeymoon and had a great time. The house is about 200 years old and the innkeeper's family did an excellent renovation many years ago. There are two cottages on either side, and I had the opportunity to stay in a cottage and the main house. Each morning, we had... More

We had a wonderful time at Smithfield Farm in Berryville, VA! We stayed in the Summer Kitchen Cottage which was adorable and cozy and separate from the main house. We liked the privacy and the cottage comes with a full kitchen that is well stocked. We shopped at the farm store next door and made our own dinner. We supplemented... More
